She's only out of her most likely first long term relationship.
We got along well and she invited me for drinks even though she's only met me once at that point.
Then I invited her for drinks, then we did some activities together. She always brought a friend but I feel recently she started feeling comfortable with me and I walked her home, she was pleased and told me to text her back, so I did. We got along really well after that so I thought its time to ask her out on a date.
Asked her out to movies, she agreed, then she asked if its still on but I had to reschedule. She wanted to reschedule too, so I did and she told me she doesn't really want to go anymore and asked who else was going to come. I assumed she already figured out it was a date, then I said just the two of us and she made an excuse not to go so I took it as a hint and dropped her.
I think its because of her ex that she was giving me mixed signals. She initiated a lot of the meet ups and acted more interested in me than I was in her.
Why did she bail at the end? any potential for the future (stay friends and see what happens) or am I right to drop her?

She's not really the type to get touchy, but what gets me is that she genuinely cares. when I was going through a messy break up, she biked over from her house and brought me ice cream, she laughs a lot at my jokes, but she has short hair, so doesn't play with it much haha. I'm probably making excuses though, and I'll just see how things play out

she told me she would get back to me if she changed her mind so I told her there's no rush and tried to play it off as I didn't exactly ask her out on a date, which I didn't, I suggested we watch a film together and she was up for it. Think she actually wanted us to go alone together but on the actual day she might've gotten cold feet so she bailed.
She did invite her friend once and we pretty much ended up talking for the most part and her friend got ignored to the point where she left after about an hour. The two of us stayed together the whole night and thats when I walked her home so I thought it would be ok to ask her out, even if indirectly.
But yeah I'll see, I'm gonna stay friends with her for now and see how that develops but I don't want to be too forward in case I actually am a rebound, which I initially thought I was but she does seem to have some interest, just maybe not there yet. Thanks anyways!
