Not much experience with those but in my experience character controllers tend to be really jerky. I always have trouble making smooth transitions too. It feels kinda stupid when they accelerate from 0 to 100 in a split second

Currently the character has no animations, just a model, but so far the model accelerates pretty nicely. For gravity I actually make my players non-physics objects so that I can edit their time to the apex of their jump, their friction, and the gravity all in code instead of trying to mess with global settings.

I can't go to my university anymore. The scholarship program that I was in gave me a full ride to a UC school in San Diego, was dissolved. So I am no longer able to attend cause I can't pay for it without taking huge loans. I didn't receive any financial aid due to the scholarship.
