The intent of the 2nd Amendment was to guarantee the people a means and a way to defend themselves from the government. Following me so far?
Today, people use the 2nd Amendment as a means to obtain a firearm. The intent of people today obtaining firearms is not to protect themselves against the government. It is to protect (or attack?) each other. (On a side note, no amount of firearms could defeat the government in a war. They have fighter jets.)
Because the 2nd Amendment no longer is used as intended and would not in its today form belong in the original Constitution, it should be erased altogther and guns should be taken away from the American people.
