Alright /b/. I was changing the spark plugs on my 02ram 1500 and the thread part broke from the spark plug and now I can’t take that shit off. I’ve been spraying PB blaster to loosen up the part but it won’t budge. Also I’ve been trying to get it out with an extractor that looks like a drill bit. Any ideas on how to get that thing out without taking apart the heads?
Pic related
and I'm a girl btw
>>769201553
youre fucked. you gotta take the heads apart
user a needle nose plier
>>769201553
Use your penis.
>>769201922
This
Put the spake plug back in, take it to a repair shop, tell them you need new spark plug, and then have them deal with it
>>769201922
This. Or use a reverse drill bit.
>>769201957
I’ve tried an extractor with a cheater bar and I had to stop fearing the bit would break in there. Doubt some needle nose pliers are gonna do more than diddle that hole
>>769201553
3/8" Left hand drill bit. It will catch and spin it out
>>769202100
That’s what I’ve been using but that shit’s in there real good. Truck was a hand me down from my dad I think he didn’t use anti-seize when he changed the spark plugs
>>769201553
Go in with a long, slender, sharp center punch and a hammer and strike it as far out to the OD as possible in counter-clockwise direction to loosen/unscrew the base of the plug.
And stop buying cheap fucking made-in-China plugs.
>>769202212
this.
drill it out.
>>769201553
Use an impact drill on the inside, just enough to get a small impression. Maybe on both sides, then use a hammer and pin to slowly slap that fucker loose.
>>769202243
But they were champions bruh. They’re getting replaced with bosch even if they hadn’tade this mess
Poke it with your dick
>>769202126
That hole shouldn't matter much until you reach the threads.
>>769202126
>diddle that hole
>>769201757
Tits or gtfo. Fucking newfags
>>769202339
Tried and didn’t work. Used a ratchet with a cheater bar and I felt the bit was gonna break in there
>>769202472
>They’re getting replaced with bosch
Don't. The majority of Bosch spark plug production has been moved to China, and they are having terrible QC issues. They don't work, they're not even, the electrodes fall out, et cetera. Bosch whored themselves hard.
>>769201553
worst case you take it all apart, the headers, everything and unscrew it from the inside
>>769201757
why has no one asked for tits yet yall slacking off to much /b/
>>769202243
this, center punch and drive it out
>>769202684
Didn’t know they did that. So stick with champion?
>>769202734
>falling for such shitty bait
>>769201922
Unfortunately these annons are right. Take it to a shop or just take the heads apart. It's not hard it's just a bitch, bitch and a half depending on your experience level
You can try a spark plug socket with that rubber gasket shit on the inside of it to give it a tight seal. Other than that, use a reverse drill bit. You can get a reverse drill bit kit at Lowes or whatever. You'll need a somewhat powerful drill though. And you miiiight be able to grab the help out of it with some long ass needle nose pliers.
>>769202734
Because if OP really is female, owns a fucking Dodge Ram truck and is working on it herself...OP is NOT the type of woman whose tits we want to see.
>>769202684
Buy NgK Iridium. Dont be a nigger.
I guess I’ll have to try the center punch as a last resort before taking it apart then
Spark plugs shouldn't be snywhere near tight enough for them to snap. Anyway id try a straight fluted extractor or just grind flutes in a bolt
>>769202865
Fuck you newfag. Learn the rules or get out.
>>769202987
depends on the engine fuccboi, most chrysler engines want champion coppers or work like dogshit if you try to pull a fast one on them and use other spark plugs
>>769203128
It’s not that they’re overtightened it’s that those spark plugs have been in there probably for a decade. Like I said it was my dad’s and he didn’t take good care of it
>>769201553
Don't buy a Dodge next time. Good luck otherwise.
>>769201553
Dipshit you probably forced it in the wrong direction and broke it.
The only way you're going to have any success is to drill into the remainder of the spark plug, a few mil, and use a reverse tapping bit for extracting broken studs and bolts.. it's not super complicated but it requires patience, focus, time, the right bits (go to a decent automotive store asap) and some gentle force.
This is the only option if you don't have the time or skill to pull the head off.
Also, use NGK spark plugs, they're made in Japan, everything else is pure shit.

>>769203835
Ugly? All American pick up truck are for women, unless you raise and fix them up. Exception for the Ford's king ranch f-150. Tundra's and Titans are bigger, nicer, and more reliable.
>>769201553
It does not matter as soon as that broke the electrode fell in. You habe to take the heads off to get that out.
>>769203595
Lol, Toyota trucks such as the Tundra, Hilux, Landcruiser and Surf/Prado are practically indestructible.. they're stolen to order for middle eastern militants because they don't break down.. they don't have part and services to maintain trucks, Toyotas last long enough without major repairs or servicing that they're a viable option.
Remember, Japan got Nuked twice by you cunts and brushed that shit off.
Their pick ups from the 90s are still more reliable than anything America is yet to produce.
>>769204015

Still better than the 5 year life expectancy of any American vehicle. All American vehicles start having trouble once they reach 100k miles, (yes there are people who really take care of their vehicles and can put 10x as much mileage) but foreign vehicles such as Japanese and german have a long life expectancy. I have a Nissan sentry with 160k miles and not a single problem with it, all I do is regular tune ups. I've know people who sell their Chevy, Ford, or any other vehicle at 120k miles because it's fucking up to the point it will cost more to repair than what the vehicle is worth.
>>769204289

You're telling me this shit is ugly?
>>769204617
>>769201553
You have to use a screw extractor. If you are LUCKY. It will work. I assume the hex part snapped off flush with the plug hole. But, most likely will have to pull the cylinder head. And you’re a chick, you say? I wants proof
>>769204588
>I've know people
I’ve known people that fuck up imports before they reach 50k miles
>>769201553
And also. Pb blaster sucks. Only good penetrating oils are aero Kroil, or bg Inforce.
>>769204588
Agreed.
I drive a 1980s Mitsubishi and it gets regular servicing and it is fast and bullet proof.
>>769204658

>>769204588
Especially ford diesels. Such junk
>>769204658
Dat tamiya.
You don't want to use a reverse bit on it as it will just push the ceramic of the plug into the cylinder. Take it to a garage. I would try a few spots off weld, then build it up to welding a nut to the remains of the plug. Three heat will help loosen it and then unscrew it.
>>769204756
I have 3 old vehicles. I have a 1990 bmw, 242,000 on it, e30, still runs. 1992 Saab 900. Almost 300,000, daily. 1994 Chevy blazer. Almost 330,000. Was my daily. For 10 years. I put over 100,000 on that fucker. Til the rear axle blew up.
>>769204715
That explains why foreign cars have a bad rep with reliability. That's why I can find a used Ford fusion, Chevy impala, or dodge charger with 120k miles for $2,000USD but if I look for the same mileage and year on a Toyota, Honda, or any other import it will cost double if not more.
>>769204967
OP said the ceramic including the diode came out.. it's literally just the threaded part inside the head..
>>769204810
The only diesels that has been known for quality is a ram, as shitty as American vehicles are. Dodge at least has a good rep with diesels trucks.

Only the 12/24 valve with mechanical injection. Once they went to piezo common rail, they went to junk. The duramax is better in every way. And also. The dodge. The engine is not made by dodge. It’s cummins. And the 7.3 is equally as good as the old Cummins. The only good ford diesels have 7.3s. The truck still falls apart around the motor. As does the dodge with the Cummins. May as well cut your losses, but an engineless diesel older Chevy, and swap that Cummins into a good truck. With an nv4550 trans. Because indestructible 5 speed
>>769205371
Please prove it.
>>769204967
I guess my only option left is the center punch and after that take heads apart

This
>>769205621
What is your opinion on best vehicular companies in the world today?
>>769205005
Yeah, 80s BMWs are reliable..
It's the newer German cars that have plastic parts in the cooling system.. the plastic pipes and shit disintegrate and the engines cook..
People in general are retards with car maintainance.. no one looks after their shit, they just put the pedal down until it breaks, so the manufacturers make, today, cars that will die after 130,000 kilometres because they can save on manufacturing costs using brittle and inexpensive materials.
In Europe, they salt the roads in winter too, which destroys any car within 10 years, so it's good business the manufacture crappy throwaway cars and the Germans have that business model mastered.. modern Volkswagen and Audi are disasters after 120,000 kilometres..
Porsche on the other hand is designed to last.. they're the European equivalent of Toyota but with supercar performance as the selling point.
I'd take a Porsche over a modern Ferrari or Lambo any day
>>769201553

Nah man, modern Porsches are reliable, they're not designed to be thrown away.
Porsche has the most cars on the road that they've ever manufactured..
Like, 90% of all Porsches ever made are still on the road, no other manufacturer can say that. Not even Toyota.. only because the amount of Toyota's that are used for military shit, off roading, get destroyed in floods etc.
>>769206214

Lexus aren't really luxury they cost the same as any other full size vehicle. I don't know where you go to see them more expensive than any other car.
>>769206616
The odds of that are very slim. Most hot girls wont go anywhere near an engine in fear of getting their hands dirty
Try to heat up the head, and cool down the spark plug.

>>769206684
Why not? They claim it, only because it's not up to your standards?
>>769206810
Yea but it's not expensive. It's like saying a impala is a luxury car but it still cost the same as any full size car like Lexus, a Lacrosse and other so called "luxury" vehicles.

LOL no 1 drives a chevy truck and the other drives a chevy car
>>769207116

>>769205196
Fuck it then. Pure rage should get it out.
>>769206103
Forgot to mention that the charger is a v8 too compared to the v6 of the Lexus.
So the charger is 2 years younger, 40k miles less, and has 2 more cylinders. And it's still cheaper.
https://elpaso.craigslist.org/cto/d/2007-dodge-charger-aut-6/6589191693.html
Here the charger has HALF the miles the Lexus has, it's a v6 like the Lexus, and it's only 1 year older. Look at that fucking price difference even with miles under 100k
>>769207358
You forgot to mention it’s a salvage
>>769201553
You're fucked. Time to tear the top end apart and pull the head off. I refuse to own or work on a Dodge since i bought my last gf a Durango and had nothing but problems.
Is your dad's name Tom btw?
>>769207470
Just how you forgot to mention the difference in engine size.
Even then they probably dropped a couple hundred simply for that. While they can add a couple thousand just because it's a v8. Compare a v6 with a v8 of the same vehicle. It makes a big difference.
>>769207624
bouncing on my boy's dick to this
>>769201553
aluminum header steel plug
yea your fucked
>>769207624
>they probably dropped a couple hundred simply for that.
A salvage title makes the car basically worthless, and yes’ I’ll give you the engine size is different but it doesn’t necessarily make the car more expensive. Compare a raptor with a regular v8 f150 and the raptor is much more expensive
>>769202083
Even if they did break it off, it’s still OPs responsibility. Auto shops don’t cover that shit
>>769207969
So you're going to assume if it wasn't for that salvage title, the car would cost the fucking same as the v8 version of it?
How retarded are you?
Seriously go look for clean blue title and salvage title of the same vehicle with same miles, engine size, year. There's a few hundred difference compare everything but with a v6 and a v8 it's a couple thousand.
Seriously you probably should take daddy with you when you go buy a car, because you're getting ripped off
>>769202235
You don’t want to use anti-seize on plugs anyway. Most is graphite based and graphite corrodes aluminum.
>>769207969
But I'll agree with you that salvage and rebuilt engines are useless. I personally wouldn't get one. But the price difference between that and a clean blue title isn't great. At least compared the difference between a v6 and a v8.

>>769202083

Seriously tho OP get a EZ out drillbit and drill it into the remaining plug. If it's too tight for a drill, use pliers or a small enough socket like 4mm to hold and wind the bit.
>>769208401
>>769208401
Learn English, wetback
>>769208331
That’s why I mentioned a base lexus sedan is over 40k brand new compared to basically any base dodge which wont break 30k
>>769208488
Most important do not give up, use pressure. A big enough bit won't break. Get as close as possible if you use a socket.
The lowest point of the spark plug is the threads and nut. If you broke the Diode off it doesn't matter.
So I'm assuming you broke the nut head off and only the threaded part remains in the head yes?
>>769201553
If you can't get it out with needle nose pliers, try an easy out. Remember-lefty loosey. So counter clockwise from this angle. If you try to drill it, don't drill all the way through or you will get metal shavings in your cylinder.
>>769208591

>Bottom
my boys dick went sideways with this, still bouncing on it tho
>>769208613
A new v8 charger cost 35,000, like 3k less than the cheapest Lexus.
But the difference between a v6 to a v8 charger is like 7k.
So what was that about dodge not breaking 30k?

>>769208779
Okay your wording is fucked. The Diode and porcelain broke off. The base is the part that's stuck. Then put a socket and a cheater bar on it. Worst case scenario you pull the threads with it and you can just be chink and use a thread repair kit. All this other retard shit is useless. If you want to do it safely without ripping the threads use an impact. I used to save the Ford Triton motors this way. They were notorious for fucked plugs

The hex part came off with the rest of the plug so there’s no where to put a socket. I’ve already tried the reverse bit with a cheater bar but it feels like it’s just gonna break in there. I’m guessing at this point it’s the worst case scenario and I’m gonna have to take the head apart

So I'm always wrenching on my baby) I won't even enter these arguments. You can argue all day long but if you are a miata fag and you won't drive anything else, I'll have a fucking beer with you.
>>769209507
Heat it first and try again, did you already pre drill a hole for the extractor bit to bite into? If it breaks it breaks, bits are cheap.

>>769209507
Okay now we are on the same page. You can weld a nut on but it's slim and shit would have to be perfectly aligned or it would really fuck you.
Basically this is your best option. You need a new timing chain anyway kek. If you drill all the way through you will drop shavings in the cylinder and you are gonna have a bad time
I would try the reverse thread and if it snaps it snaps (which it will. The fact you broke off the head is fucking astounding) that bitch is in there.

I hate pulling heads as much as the next guy but get a timing kit off amazon for a 100 bucks and rip it down. If you drop anything in the cylinder and it beats the piston to death you will lose the whole engine. Might as well save yourself the trouble
>>769201553
hey OP
>ich hab das problem auch schon öfters gehabt. Nimm einen Dreikantschaber wie der im bild (such die passende größe raus), steck den von oben in das zündkerzenloch sodass die spitze an das alte gewinde teil der zündkerze kommt.
Schlag nun ein paar mal leicht auf den griff des schabers, damit sich die spitze im gewinde verkeilt.
nun kannst du vorsichtig das reststück heraus drehen ohne das gewinde des kerzensitzes zu beschädigen.

Yeah you don't use anti seize on spark plugs.
Your dad is a moron and tightened the plugs too tight.
>20 ft lbs nigger
>That's a slight grunt tight, not asian qt 3.14 tight.
If you can get a socket in there slightly smaller than the inside diameter of the plug threads and give a rap with a ball peen to try to shock the threads. Then use an easy out.
>>769210148
The new mustangs look sad and the camaro are somehow getting worse. The challenger just gets better somehow. I've dropped in racing coil overs a beefy intake and full exhaust and cam, debating supercharging with a cam or just trading it for a hellcat but I'm pretty partial to the green and electronically its loaded so no big difference in a hellcat other than 200 horse
>>769210428
That wraps it up then I guess. There’s nothing left in this thread but shitposter anyways. Thanks for the tips anon
>>769210611
Hey before you give up. Do you have a good punch
>>769210435
>beim einsetzen der neuen kerzen einfach etwas Hochtemperatur schmiermittel wie Kupferpaste auf das Kerzengewinde streichen und beim Eindrehen Handfest anziehen dann solltest du keine probleme mehr haben
>>769210678
I'll assume you do. Hang on let me sort out my thought so I can convey it properly
Does nobody just scribe a mark on the cam sprocket and chain with white out or a scribe anymore?
>>769201553
So is it DOHC or SOHC?
If it's regular old OHV then giving it head shouldn't be too bad.
Otherwise you may as well just salvage yard a motor and do a complete overhaul on it.
>>769208249
really? So I have an Hyundai Accent with over 225000 miles on it. Are you telling me that it's fucked because I used anti-seize?
OP i'm a german car mechanic and a Meister (so it's called in Germany) believe me this works fine
>>769210435
>>769210720
>>769210758
I do somethkng I should try also, i think it’ll be the same result as the reverse drill bit
Good luck op. I'd continue to try using an extractor until you have no more fucks to give. If you do get it out then you can check if you went through and have to take the heads off anyway. If not, fun activity to curse at your pops about.
>>769201553
yeah like most comments . I had to do this on a similar model . you are fucked ... gonna have to either have a miracle or take the head off.
>>769210929
You can try filing notches to drive it with a punch....
>>769210929
Okay if you have a punch with a flat tip it will work best. Strike around the outer ring like so. Go all the way around the edge. Don't swing for the fences start with a solid tap all the way around then try the easy put. If no luck try it again harder. Increasing how hard you strike it after every time you try the easy out. If you have patience this will work
>>769211079
Won't work. Not that deep you need a decent angle to use that trick.
>>769201553
You need a counter-rotational drill bit/ screw extractor. Instead of rotating clockwise, they go anti clockwise so the torque will be applied against the rotation of the seised spark plug, thus working it loose.
>>769211086
das ist absoluter mist.. wenn du von außen auf den gewindesitz schlägst stauchst du das material im gewindegang zusammen und das wars dann. so bekommst du niemals das reststück heraus
>>769211079
OP you know a reverse bit and an extractor are not the same right?
>>769203631
problem is that if the spark plug is seased to a point that it broke in the head she will end up just making the broken part smooth and maby even scraping the threads in the head
>>769211147
This. It is two mins of a job with the correct tool.
>>769211086
Screenshotted and saved. Seems like it might work will give this a try
This is a cutaway of a spark plug. You need the shock to carry down the wall of the plug. The red is metal. The white is ceramic and the blue is the Diode inside.
>>769211262
>wenn du da mit ausziehern und linksausdrehern rein gehst in das zündkerzenloch dann versaust du es nur noch mehr
>glaub mir OP es funktioniert zu 100%
>>769211383
You just have to be very careful with it. If you drill too much, you might get swath into the cylinder. That's a head off to clean job.
>>769211420
Fucking forgot pic. Same guy btw
>>769211237
Yeah I know the difference between the two
>>769211383
Tried and failed. That shit won’t let go for dear life
you need a special tool that is very expensive. it's like a drill with reverse thread. get the car towed to a service.
Also to everyone talking about left hand drill bits and extractors etc. This thing is way past those tools. If she shocks the thing loose and extractor may work. A left hand drill bit will snap. If it's seized to the point of breaking the nut off, some skinny hardened steel isn't gonna help. Something has to change prior to those working. I. E. Shocking it loose or pb blaster working into the threads. I assume it's due to the types of metals being different causing the corrosion or rust or chemical reaction that seized everything
>>769211499
Are you trying to teach me how a spark plug works? I don’t get what you’re saying. The only part that’s stuck is the metal(red) part of the spark plug. Everything else came out intact
>>769211587
Ok, will the engine run at the moment? If so, let it get warm then try again. The heat will expand the head and should free up the thread a bit
The next person that says left hand drill bit gets punched in the dick. Jesus
>>769211716
LOL no no no hang on let me make another picture.
>>769211707
Ahhhhh now I see what you mean when you meant shock
>>769211707
Can put a punch down the hole and tap it with a hammer to break the seize
>>769211262
>she
I like how everyone is still assuming I’m a girl
>>769211707
You have a good point. I was thinking drill it then use a reverse thread bolt or screw to apply the torque. But as op has just said that the ceramic core has come out, then it's a moot point
>>769202770
Always buy NGK. Bosch is shit, champion isn't much better, as you can see right now...
>>769203819
>German
Nope, unless you mean pre 2000's
Okay three people responded to me and I don't know who op is. I wasn't trying to explain a plug kek but how to strike this plug to get the desired effect. When we say shock we don't mean electricity, it's a term basically meaning to break something loose with a jarring force. It's why we have air hammers. Fucking awesome tools anyhow.
Pic related. You want to strike on the top edge of the metal the inside or core is ceramic and shitty and won't transfer any of the force. You want the force to travel down the wall of the plug or the red to break the threads loose. (the shittily drawn squiggly lines on the side. This was drawn on my phone so excuse the shit tier graphic the top green arrow is where your punch will be and the bottom is where you want the shock to travel and again by shock I mean you hitting the punch with a hammer
Now. For everyone else. Please stop say left hand anything.

>falling for that simple bait
>>769212303
Ok that makes perfect sense along with the first pic you posted
>>769201553
Here comes help!
Step 1. take a potato
step 2 cut it in half
step 3 throw half the potato away.
step 4 take the other half and press it on the remaining spark plug
step 5 turn your potato counter clockwise until the thing comesd of.
done

Or no?

This anon wins the thread and OC tits
>>769201553
Yikes!
You could try
1. Drilling it out. Use the largest drill bit you can manage and try to drill straight so you dont damage the threads
2. Tap threads in the hole
3. Thread a bolt with a nut on it into your new threads
4. Tighten the nut against the spark plug
then try turning it out.
You might want to start as if you were tightening the spark plug, then lube the newly exposed threads
Vacuum out the cylinder/magnet on a stick when you're done to get the metal bits out. If you're really worried about it you could disconnect exhaust at the collector and let it run for a min when back together.
The cylinder won't much care about the little bits, but the honeycomb in the cat sure will.
Good luck!
>>769212642
Okay so what you want to do is insert penis here, the green arrows, and then pull it back, and the. Insert again, now you need to remove the wedding ring where the red is. We won't need that, and now back to the green. Just keep doing that until you get white stuff on your face (I marked that with white stuff for easy reference.) I hope it works out for ya and thanks for the tits.
