So how it works is each profile has a score assigned to it. Tinder can't actually tell how attractive you are or anything like that so it relies on two things: do other people like your profile (which you can't change) and how "desperate" your behaviour is (in other words, if you don't get any matches for a while will you stop using the service or will you shell out for Tinder Gold).
When you like a girl you will be assigned to her queue but you'll always be lower on her list than a higher value profile that has also like her. Since the algorithms will only typically allow a handful of matches per day you'll usually get shafted to the next day's queue if there's sufficient higher value profile interest. Since time is also a factor in lowering you down each user's queue there's a good chance if you spam like most girls will never encounter your profile.
It's the same story for girls seeing your profile first. The high value profiles have a higher score so they're prioritised.
Tinder is a business, people forget that. It makes money by you being unsuccessful with the free version and the algorithms reflect that.

To be honest you're better off just deleting your account and starting over. That's what I did when I found out how the system works and I started getting a decent number of matches over the next couple of weeks.
The other thing that's important is that you keep conversations relatively short. This actually works quite well because it's been my experience girls are less likely to ghost you if you're using whatsapp or whatever than tinder messaging.
