Look i think the whole thing you're missing is the foil lander was tucked away like a suitcase in your car until it was time to land. Then they got inside that, ejected it, and carefully landed, leaving enough fuel to get back off the moon.
There's no atmosphere in space or the moon, therefore no weather. The only thing you need to worry about out there is the direct radiation of the sun, and also the well below freezing temperatures.

To be honest I have never seem those mirrors myself, but even if they could "shoot them up there" you would need to make them able to resis the fall or develop a machinery capable of automatically landing safely.
