No, the founding fathers were pretty ok with taking guns away from people who shouldn't have them on a case by case basis.
They did not, however, attempt to ban "scary" guns or weapons that might be seen as a threat to the government. That was kind of the point of the amendment. You can't ban x object from hundreds of millions of people just because one person out of a hundred million might use it to harm others. That doesn't make sense.

So, when they take guns away from law abiding citizens, what are we going to do when a criminal that didn't turn his guns in robs you at gun point? Do you have a family?
