Actually there is a male and female plant. Male plant produces the seeds. If it gets too close to the female plant it will be very seedy when it produces buds.

Not OP but I've grown quite a bit. You can keep plants in a vegetative state as long as you like and then it's roughly 2-2.5 months flowering before they're ready for harvest.

Start looking each day.
Look at crotch where branches meet stem.
Usually small leaf there,behind you will see a pre flower.
Use bright light and magnifying glass.Rotate plant till visible.
Look for round ball or pear shape with hair.(female).
Over half will be male and have to be destroyed.
Gets very easy to spot the more you do it.

OP, there is no way to tell, barring a genetic testing of genetic material, but even then, by the time that is sent back from lab, you could have your answer.
A regular seed made from male and female P1 or parent stock can be male or female, depending on environmental conditions. The only way to know is to sex the plant... by waiting until it shows either stamen sacks or stigmas. Root size and plant maturity are key to a plant showing sex, and unless you flower a cutting of the plant, you'll have to wait for nature to take it's course

you told me i was mostly right then i shouldn't give advice from the subject. you tell people there is "no way to tell", but most advanced growers can tell you that you can sex plants after topping. if you say no, then you've never grown cannabis or have barely grown at all and have never seen a mother plant in your life, which is often loaded with large pre-flowers. it's the same thing on young veg plants except they're much smaller, and untrained eye will not catch them and be able to determine what they are.

Topping has nothing to do with sexing. It's about the age of the plant, and the size of the rootball. Topping will induce a change in auxins, which will have an impact on how the plant looks, but not when it will be mature. That's why you are wrong.

Force the plant into flower. Change the light schedule to 12/12 until you see sacks, the. Change light schedule back to 18/6 and put it back to vege stage. If you have great conditions it won't be stressed too much. If you are outside, use a garbage back to change its light schedule. Has no one on this board ever grown? Depends on what conditions you are working with and how long grow season is. Or if you are doing it indoors with space, why not? I've seen some people use all their efforts to end up with 60% males. What a waste of fucking time.
