Anyone here a whiskey fan? What do you prefer- Scotch, bourbon, Irish, Japanese or other? Smoky, peaty, sweet?
I love heavily peated Scotch and I'm waiting to open a bottle of Ardbeg Corryvrechan for my GF and I's anniversary soon.

I drink far to much Evan William's for my own good. It where good corn goes to die.
Islay for sure.
>>769027292
My all-time favourite is Ardbeg's
Uigeadail; IMHO the ultimate balance between smoothness and character. That Corryvrechan is bound to be quite an experience. Slàinte!

> local liquor store carries this
Peaty af

I prefer scotch, mostly Arran or Claymore. Recently i tried some japanese whiskey (namely Nikka) and i was kinda disappointed. Not that it was bad, but way too similar to scotch.
Suntori whisky is so ducking good and smooth. I’ve had suntori w a green tea infusion and made into a whiskey sour and it was damn good. Also a grey tea herbal infusion.

Scotch single distilled whiskey is the original but all the same it's a bit rough I find. Irish triple distilled whiskey is awesome. But having said that I still prefer American double distilled whiskey, bourbon. For the price (in Australia where I am) you can't beat it.

My nigga
Here’s my main
My main.
Laphroaig Quarter Cask is a good choice, if you like heavily peated Islay Scotch.
>>769028016
a buddy gave me a full bottle of this.
he hated how peaty it was and was like here you take it.
>>769027292
OP if you like ardbeg check out no name by compass box

~$100 a bottle,

Corry is a fantastic dram. You won’t be disappointed. It’s very spicy and earthy, about equally so to the heavy peat. It has a lasting finish that’s quite nice.
I recommend neat. Do not add ice cubes to have it on the rocks.
My all time favorite is Lagavulin 16. It’s an unbelievably refined and complex peat bomb.
Best bang for your buck I’d say is laphroiag 10. It’s a wonderful peaty one you can get for 45 bucks. Good taste anon.
>>769027292
I like peaty whiskey more.
I prefer scotch. But u drink bourbon more often because it's cheaper. I usually drink Jim Beam since it's less than $15 per bottle without tasting like trash.
Best whiskey I've had was Johnny Walker blue label.
>>769029247
I've had this a few times but it's way too smoky and harsh for me.
>>769027645
I'm personally not a fan of islay whiskeys. At least the few I've had.
I prefer bourbon

This poster here, OP.
Also try it when it’s first poured, it’ll punch you in the face. THEN, wait 5-10 minutes to allow it to soak up some moisture. It changes the esters in the drink and this changes the taste.
If you like peaty ones you’re in luck, they’re much more reasonable in price compared to the highlands and speysides.
Avoid blendeds, they don’t have near the character as your single malts. Blue Label for example is dogshit. Laga16 blows it out of the water and is less than half the price. Do not confuse smoothness and lack of finish with quality. You’ll miss out on what are truly whiskey experiences and waste your money.
bourbon was invented for people with no taste buds left, that shit is like charcoal syrup fuck that hillbilly ass juice
irish whiskey distills all the macho out of their booze, its like scotch on training wheels for sissy faggots
>>769027292
as long as they taste with cola im fine
There is only one whisky that still practices the ART of a sophisticated dram, not sewer water and paint thinner of the islay, not wimped out garbage of the highlands, a good speyside is all you need now and forever
When I have money I get Japanese stuff. I haven't had enough to form an opinion on any of them, but I like all the ones I tried.
When I don't have any money, which is most of the time, I get Elijah Craig. Mostly because it has a higher than normal ABV. And because I prefer getting drunk over taste about 98.3% of the time.

I like scotch but I had to quit drinking because I can't stop once I've started; I always make an ass out of myself and have no memory of it the next day. Such a shame because I do enjoy drinking it.
>>769031576
only proper way to enjoy that crap
>>769027292
I bought a couple of bottles of ardberg because of the reviews and awards but I really didn't like it, tasted like rocks and dirt mixed with scotch. I like irish whisky like tullamore dew, jameson and such. I just had Suntory Kakubin Japanese whisky for the first time tonight and it was really nice.

You’re wrong.
The 12 is lighter and spicier because it’s CS, but it doesn’t have the thick, lasting flavor profile that the 16 does, simply because of age. It is a fantastic dram, literally #2 on my list, behind the 16.
