Way worse, and it lasts for days instead of a few hours. It can also cause hallucinations. The first and last time I dabbled in it I hallucinated flies everywhere. I could feel them landing on me. My friend could not see them, and thought I was losing it. Meth is also highly neurotoxic.

benefit of the doubt. i've got friends that have tried meth, so it's not really that unlikely.
a couple tips:
don't ever use it multiple days in a row. much easier to avoid side effects if you have hard, unbreakable rules surrounding use. example: i can use for 24 hours, but on the 25th hour, i cannot use again for an entire day.
force yourself to eat food when you haven't eaten for a while. just make yourself do it. you lose weight really quickly when you're only eating one meal a day.
chew gum so you don't grind your teeth. you might not notice, but you're doing it all the time.
do not stay up for more than two nights back to back. if you stay up too much, you'll start seeing shadow people, and once you start getting those hallucinations, you'll get them almost every time you use meth. they don't harm you or anything, but it trips you the fuck out and ruins the experience.

the methyl group on methamphetamine alters the chemistry significantly. in the same way that methanol will make you blind, but if you add a methyl group (one carbon) to make ethanol, it's drinking alcohol and comparatively safer.
the methyl group makes methamphetamine (referred to as meth from here on) enter the brain from the blood stream much more readily. it also has a higher binding affinity to dopamine neurons in the brain.
"Due to the high lipophilicity of methamphetamine, it can readily move through the blood–brain barrier faster than other stimulants, where it is more resistant to degradation by monoamine oxidase."
meth gets broken down into amphetamine, and follows the same metabolic pathway, but due to the methyl group it is much more resistant to that initial conversion to amphetamine. as a result, it causes a much greater release of dopamine for a much longer time. this is one of the neurotoxic mechanisms.
simplified, meth makes your brain dump more dopamine, when your brain runs out of dopamine to dump, that causes damage. amphetamine tends to avoid this problem, because it doesn't stay around long enough to deplete dopamine reserves.
there is also a problem of dopamine autoxidation. a dopamine metabolite is particularly reactive and causes oxidative damage to cells. as meth causes a greater and longer release of dopamine, more of this oxidative damage is caused.
there are other reasons, but if nothing else, a dose of meth will cause damage to dopamine neurons where an equivalent dose of amphetamine will not.

I'm going to elaborate on that and say that addiction is a symptom of a mental illness and not an illness in and of itself. I know someone who is bipolar and in recovery. He'd do any drug that he could smoke, snort, or pop if he drug was there. It was a matter of availability for him, and I've seen this in other addicts as well.
It's why marijuana legalization will not cure the opoid crisis, but that's a talk for another day.
