An hour ago we were having quite a bit of thunder. My boy, (2 and a half year old Maine Coon) was so scared he hid from the thunder. I looked down about 30 minutes ago and he was sitting balled up on the floor, right by my feet. I picked him up and he hasn't left my side since. If I put him down on the floor he gets real low to the ground with his ears back. But if I hold him he calms down. I love this animal and he's part of my family. Well mines a rescue. My gf found him when he was about 3 months. He was the tiny and a runt. He was dying of some unknown disease that he managed to beat with petia lite and lots of good food and affection. He has only about half of his teeth. But we give him both wet and dry food so he can choose which one is easier to eat. We talked to the vet about dental surgery but they said it'd cost around 1200 dollars to fix and pull his bad teeth and we can't afford it. I don't think pulling his only remaining useful teeth(even if they are decayed) would be in his best interest regardless.

When I was younger we moved in with my moms bf. Our cat hated him and his kid. First few months they just had to avoid eachother, and they had to be told not to try to pet her or anything.
After some more time, the cat started to realize that they lived with us now. She chilled out around them, and eventually started letting them pet her, and she'd sleep on their laps etc.
Some animals just need time to get used to people. And periodically coming over generally won't do it, they'll just freak out when they arrive, think things gone back to normal when they leave, and repeat.

Eh, my wife's cat always liked me better, even though it spent the first 6 years of her life without me. It was more of a cute thing, but there was a tinge of jealousy on her part at the start. Later in our relationship I'd always joke that if we got a divorce, I'd take the cat. I was only halfway joking, but we've never had relationship woes either.

It sounds like the first thing to do is examine things and see what is really bothering you. Sounds like there's a little resentment there over chores, but rotating them or both having your own respective ones are part of most all modern relationships. I'd be agitated too if my wife didn't help out.
I'm a pretty introverted person and even at home I occasionally need a little space. If I feel cramped or just want some time alone to recharge or focus on something I tell her and she respects that. I'm talking like a few hours or something. Although bringing this up for the first time can make someone insecure think it somehow reflects on them, it doesn't or course, sometimes it's just nice to do things alone, doesn't mean you don't want to do things together ethier, because that's fun too and all, but it can be draining at times.
Self exploration is great, a lot of it can be done with a partner, but you don't want to resent her later if you think she's holding you back. A lot of guys go through this and regret the decision too if they do bounce for greener pastures, it's a crapshoot.
Definitely encourage her to flourish a bit with creative pursuits. There's never been a better time to be a creator really. Sometimes all it takes is a little push and encouragement to get people to tap into their own potential. Did something similar with my wife when she didn't know what she wanted to do with her life and got her to become a nurse and it's been a great fit for her, but she was always a compassionate person so it only made sense.
Sorry I can't offer much specific advice here, just sharing I guess. But I hope it works out for you either way, anon.
Totally understand being concerned about the dog though. Taking it could lead to legal problems if the worst comes to worst, but you might first ask her for him or offer to buy him in that scenario before dognapping.
