One thing I don’t understand is why the order of operations is left to right, rather than right to left (for say division / mutliplication).
When we talk about function composition and matrix operations, it is right to left. Numbers are nothing more than reduced forms of vectors, we can think of them as 1d objects. They expand to vectors, matrices, and finally tensors.
So we are talking about the lowest dimensional mathematical construct which does have some unique properties. But why make the exception of going left to right rather than right to left which is the convention for all higher ordered mathematical objects?
