Iunno how to explain this but that xpac felt too much like a single player adventure and not an MMORPG, which killed the replayability quite a lot.

Although I went from 90-96.5 without leaving Frostfire. Full heirloom, 20% xp buffs from garrison vendor, and only questing with rested xp. Then just went to Gorgrond and did all bonus objectives. BAM 98 and Draenor is a gogo

Kancolle did some things right, after all it wouldn't be popular otherwise. Events for example are enjoyable as long as you aren't an extremely casual/new player. My biggest complaints about it are:

In kancolle sorties are picking a squad and then praying that compass-chan makes it go through the safer path possible.
GF sorties are a simple (yet complex enough to be fun) turn based strategy board game with bonus objectives and stuff. You can deploy multiple squads and choose the path they take, you'll have to think around about it and just like you win by capturing the enemy base, the AI can also win by capturing yours without actually killing your squads.
There's no interactions during combat in kancolle, the outcome is actually decided in the instant it starts, but only visible if you have access to the hidden variables.
In girls frontline you move around your units to protect or withdraw what needs to or dodge telegraphed attacks. Each gun also has an active skill with cooldown that you can choose when to activate these.

Another cool thing about these games is that it occupies just as much of your time as you want. You can send your girls on 8 hour long expeditions or you can continuously grind sorties.
In the main menu you can see timers on whatever orders you sent which makes it easy to multitask the game.
