Did anyone here play a sport in HS or college? I know this site is for basement dwellers, but I'm just wondering.
>What sport did you play and was it fun?
>Was the training difficult?
>How much rivalry was there between teams/athletes?
>>768850416
Crew, mostly fun.
Yeah.
Some. Probably a lot less than other team sports.
>>768850467
crew athletes are the biggest chads on campus, u lucky
>>768850538
The coxswains are the luckiest, a twink among chads.
I did track and cross country in highschool.
>>768850416
Wrestled in both.
It was tough in college. Hs not so bad.
Yes you had to fight to stay on the roster.
>>768850749
what track events did you do
>>768850749 here forgot to add on
The training was very hard because it was basically year round. You're constantly running through woods, hills, mountains, working with weights etc. Wasn't much rivalry more of a friendly competition.
>played rugby
>was alright
>not really, it was fun
>everyone respects rugby team, left us alone
Was fun, still play
>>768850416
is marching band a sport? we had competitions, and just as much practice. just less funding.
>>768850831
4x400 metre relay, 4x800, 800 metre, 1 mile and sometimes 400 metre
>>768850884
The tuba kid must be swole.
>>768850827
Everyone says college level wrestling is insanely difficult particularly how many hours/week are taken by training.
Is it true some school are known for breaking rules often?
>>768850416
Played rugby and football through high school and first two years of college.
Yes training was difficult and it seemed like it was non-stop, but it was also fun.
Rivalries existed between teams, but not really between athletes.
>>768850907
retard can't do 3200m. gtfo.
>>768850976
Why only the first two years?
>>768850416
>who the fuck is here!!!?
>>768850938
the funny thing is, as far as my band went, the smallest people chose to play the largest instruments. no clue why. for marching tuba players play a sousaphone. same thing, but just made to be marched with, by John Philip Sousa, the great American Composer who wrote all your favorite marches.
>>768850416
>sport
Varsity football 4 years in HS since i was a tall and big motherfucker. Offensive line
>fun
cheerleaders were all over my cock. And the cheeleaders picked a guy from the start of the school year and they were paired with him the rest of the year. Promoting them, wearing their jersey, haning out with them during the day and a t lunch etc. It was ackward when i was a freshman but once i got in with the rest of the team the cheerleaders fell in play.During a party my cheerleader got drunk and we fucked in her mom's room.We had random hookups all year long, even at our rivals chem lab one time. I was pretty much untouchable by the teachers, they went out of their way to make sure i was able to play. Not that i was a shitty student(3.2 gpa graduating), but i was given extra time to turn in tests and homwork.
>training difficult
2 a days during school and 3 or 4 a days during the summer.
I rather enjoyed most of it.I got buff as shit very fast pre season.
>rivalry
My school has a rivalry since the school was created ~60 years ago. My school had a plethora of trophies. Every year we made it to nationals.Came in 1st my junior year, couldnt get past 4th my senior year though.
>>768851017
You retard yes you can. Its called Track you can do a mile in it. My school even had people doing distance events
>>768851130
living the dream tbh
If I could back in time one thing I would do is sports during hs
>>768851112
Did they have to lug around two giant school-loaned instruments?
>>768851038
A full time job and full time school made it too hard to work in full time sports.
was a scene kid/stoner but was also on the starting line of our lax team for the entirety of high school. It was a lot of fun, conditioning sucked cause it started in January and yea there were a couple different rivalries between schools
>American football as an offensive tackle
>I trained in the off-season to bulk up and hopefully get a scholarship to play. Blew out my knee, so that dream ended.
>We we're rivals with another HS, both were military magnet schools so we all had real pride in getting together at the end of the game and trade stories and enjoy each other's company at a restaurant that night. It was good times.
>Some of us went into the military, served overseas, got to see each other in passing either on the fob or at the airport, so those good memories still live on from time to time.
>>768851299
marching season, you'd typically practice on the sousaphone, no need to worry about the tuba. and come concert season. just switch. there were plenty of people who played multiple instruments, because for marching there are several that just won't work... like the french horn (they played mellophones), and oboes/bassoon would typically move to sax or clarinet. those people may have to practice and carry more instruments because, because of their differences. but the sousaphone is pretty much just a tuba with a different shape. it's in the same key, fingerings are the same, and you don't need to change your embouchure either.
>>768851299
Cheerleaders man, they some crazy bitches.
Like all the social standards were thrown out.
She picked me and i was hers. No ackward dates or weird convos BOOM this bitch is mine and is all over me all the time. That was teh best thing about it.And since i was an underclassman my first two years it was the older hotter cheerleaders
Played football. Went to a small northeast school, our team sucked. Trained hard, but we never really got anywhere. Didn’t have a properly sized squad, so everyone played offense, defense, and special teams. The year I was captain, we won one game.
Also did track and field, indoor and outdoor. Discus, Shotput, long jump and sprints. That was more fun. Running and fucking around in the woods, strength training, hanging out all day with cardio bunnies during meets.
>>768851391
what position in lax?
also scene kid is such a generic term, what do you mean? emo?
>>768851578
>Discus, Shotput, long jump and sprints
god damn you mustve been aesthetic as fuck back then
>>768851130
Fuck outta here. 4 years varsity here With 3/4 a days in summer. We did 2 days (2-2.5hrs each) and heat about killed us.
>>768851501
Oh, cool. I played the french horn in middle school. Well, "played" is used loosely here.
>>768851723
As a non-american I can't understand how you people play in all that heavy gear especially in the warmer states like texas or florida. Heatstroke must be a common thing
>>768851800
You learn to suffer in silence.
>>768851668
I did not keep up with it.
>>768851800
Sucks at first but you would be surprised what your body can get used to. I remember the first few days I could feel my head pounding and couldn’t catch air in my helmet lol. Few weeks in people had to remind us to drink water etc...
>>768851755
lol yeah I knew a lot of kids that "played" their instruments too. thought band was an easy A, and depending on the teacher, they're not wrong. first two years we had a hard ass, that was actually good at his job. we had sectionals (where you compete for higher chair among your section) every week, along with playing tests and blocking tests to make sure you knew what you were playing and where to go during what count and all that.
last two years we got a softy, who really didn't seem to care if you wanted to fuck off or not.
>What sport did you play and was it fun?
American Football, 1st year jv then varsity
>Was the training difficult?
Really focused on weight training, not really that hard since i lifted then so it was easier than my training at the gym
>How much rivalry was there between teams/athletes?
We had a rivalry against one other school since it was really close to ours, jv they used to beat us and varsity we beat them. Among players there was none, in fact coaches got mad because we didnt really give a fuck about winning
Overall it was fun, and being a football player and getting laid by the cheerleaders is a bullshit stereotype, never happened in mine. Since i lived in a shitty neighborhood the ones who got the most pussy was the drug dealers and the thugs.
>>768851723
>2-2.5hrs each
FUCK OUTTA HERE.
School ended at 2pm.
We had to report to the fields fully dressed by 3pm.
We trained till 8pm
3/4 days start at 4am and last all day till 6pm
>>768851599
I was a middie and yea emo, pic related
>>768850416
I bowled in high school. I hated school and didn't want to be there any longer than I had to, but still wanted to compete in something. Bowling wasn't associated with the school in any way, so it worked for me even though bowling could barely be considered a sport. Still better than golf.
>>768851999
did you have dealers/thugs in your actual school tho?
-football and futbol. Football kinda sucked because I played kicker and it was boring. I played goalie for a shitty team so I got a lot of action in soccer.
-training was pretty tough over summer, and during the season we just chilled out because you don't wanna get hurt at practice
-for football there were one or two rivalry games that got pretty chippy. For futbol there was more rivalry in club play.
>>768850416
Cross country (brutal) and baseball (fun).
Baseball taught me how to interact with normal kids. Not that I got great at it, but it developed relaxed social skills and reduced anxiety talking with others.
And just for the record, I sucked at baseball. Loved it, was terrible at it. But still learned a ton about social stuff. Everyone should join a team sport so long as they can fit in enough to not become ostracized on the team itself.
>>768850416
I ran track and cross country in high school
>>768850416
>>What sport did you play and was it fun?
Drumline in marching band. Fairly physical.
>>Was the training difficult?
Not compared to real sports, but intense on the legs and I had to carry a ton of weight.
>>How much rivalry was there between teams/athletes?
None, besides typical city rivalries. Had trash thrown at us once.
>inb4 drumline isn't a sport
>>768852093
playing goalie is underrated
Basketball, Track and Cross Country
>>768852130
bass drum?
>>768852130
>Had trash thrown at us once.
lol that's fucked up but hilarious, did you see the person who threw it?
I rode bulls and bucking horses.
>>768850416
Played Australian rules in high school
The training was pretty hard work, particularly in the later years
There was a particularly strong rivalry between my team and another team, as we were the only two based in my hometown, while all the others in the league were from out of town.
Yeah i played floorball (big thing in my country) during my highschool years.
Training was fun i was fit so i didnt have any problems at the time.
In the team we were all total fucking dicks. Lots of rivalry.
>>768850416
I played field hockey
>>768852174
I played bass 9th/10th grade, tenors 11th, and snare 12th.
Never went on to play in college, I miss playing with such a large group though.
>>768852188
Well it didn't hit me personally. But I saw bottles and shit. It's because we had to walk past the homeside of the field at an away football game, and the student cheer/hype section of the homeside stands didn't like that very much.
Joke was on them because it was a shitty town they lived in.
>>768852218
>There was a particularly strong rivalry between my team and another team, as we were the only two based in my hometown
AFL is always very physical anyway so those games must've been fun to watch
I played field hockey for a few years. A lot of fun. Plenty of typical Australian banter on the pitch haha
>>768852331
Fun to watch and play.
I played ruck one year, similar to a centre in basketball but rougher obviously
>>768852068
Yes, thanks to them we had random classroom searches with the k9 units weekly. Also they hanged around the welding and auto workshops alot since the teachera didnt give a fuck about the students and it was in a sperated building from the main school building. And in that parking lot again daily the k9s would sniff around.
>>768850416
>What sport did you play and was it fun?
Water polo, lots of fun, still play for university
>Was the training difficult?
It's hard but you get used to it after a while
>How much rivalry was there between teams/athletes?
there's some strong rivalries between some teams
>>768852132
Scoring goals is a great feeling, but god damn, blockin' the shit outta a point blank shot and seeing the agony on the strikers face was cash. Saving penalties was great too. Did you play keeper?
>>768852238
>In the team we were all total fucking dicks. Lots of rivalry.
elaborate?
>>768852446
you ever had any trouble with them?
>>768852290
tenors were fun to play. wasn't in the drumline, I played alto sax.
same, played through high school but didn't go on to play in college. I did other stuff with music though (not that it's helping me any now). lol it's funny, looking back, how much I thought I hated doing all that work, but yeah I fucking miss those people and playing on the field.
>>768852432
How did that go? were there any player in particular you disliked?
I played football in middle school, soccer in middle school, and cross country in high School. All of them were fun in their own respective ways, but looking back I liked football the most.
>>768852486
as a kid. never played in HS or beyond. too fat. that's why they kept me as goalie lol
>>768852614
There were some who would go out of their way to knee you in the stomach or drop an elbow into your ribs when the umpire wasn't watching.
Also those who would just talk shit, but that's part of the game.
>>768850941
Yeah D1 is a bitch. But the go-around the time limit is 'voluntary practice' and individual training where they sharpen the best guys on the team by bringing in one of us back ups as a practice dummy.
>>768850416
Football and LaCrosse, both were fun until winning was more important than the fun, aka varsity.
>>768852683
dafuq that's messed up, were you ever targeted like that? That can do some serious damage
I scored 4 touchdowns in a single game
>>768852795
how much pussy did you get in return
>>768852595
Nice, sax is one of my favorite sounding instruments. I couldn't imagine trying to blow into an instrument and marching at the same time. One of my best high school friends was the sax section leader, so we always had the best banter with them.
Luckily for me most of our state final performances were filmed (potato image quality), but I can always watch them on YouTube.
Like you I still play some music, mostly synth/piano and some guitar. I gave up on the drums for the most part. I might try again someday.
>>768852500
For example I remember this one time when goalie forgot his helmet. So everybody was shooting at his face on purpose. He took like twenty shots to the head in the first 15 minutes, then he went home almost crying (16 years old at the time).
The coach said it was good lesson for him.
Also if you got promoted from the reserve team to the first team nobody would talk to you.
We sometimes had fist fights over which line fucked up during a lost game.
Got more stories if you want.
>>768852783
Nah, I like to think I got along alright with everyone and played fairly, so I never had anyone go after me
Did get kneed hard (accidentally) practising ruck contests at training once. This huge dude kneed me straight in the stomach...got winded so badly
>>768852795
I record for sacks was 4 in the same game.
>>768852539
Nah most of them kept to their own group, this was a predominatly a latino school so bullying wasnt really a thing.
>>768850416
Played football in highschool. Won state championship as a senior.
Training was fine. Although winter was always hardest because Texans aren't used to freezing rain.
There was plenty of rivalry, mostly with nearby schools
>I was a defensive end. Got only 2 interceptions in my career and caused about 7 fumbles had way more tackles/sacks
>Weighted around 170 lbs but that was considered lightweight compared to everyone else
>I was one of the quicker ones
>>768852875
you ever got in one of those fights?
>>768852959
170 is pretty good, right balance between speed and strength.
Were the games against rival schools particularly difficult?
>>768852959
>>I was a defensive end. Got only 2 interceptions in my career and caused about 7 fumbles had way more tackles/sacks
>remembering stats from high school
I think there's a Bruce Springsteen song about you.
I played hockey in high school. I played for many years so training wasn't too difficult. I could skate right after I learned to walk so practice wasnt too difficult for me. Twice a week with a game usually once a week. Depending on the school we had either no rivalries, or rivalries so bad the police had to be there to prevent stabbings lol
>>768850416
aye, played rugby for my town. basketball for a neighbouring HS and five a side football in an area league.
rugby was the hardest physically.. the training was brutal.
>>768853169
>or rivalries so bad the police had to be there to prevent stabbings lol
lmao this is insane, why all the hate?
also what position were you
>>768853110
No, actually they were laughably easy. We consistently decimated them, until one time they drafted a new quarterback. You should have seen it, 4 of our people were trying to tackle him, but he just slipped away and ran 70 yards for a touchdown.
>He was at least 6'3" an absolute beast with demonic speed
I think they only won once against us over around 20-25 games. I really don't remember well enough
>>768853191
>rugby was the hardest physically.. the training was brutal.
really? i would've thought area league football would be more vicious
>>768853027
I got into physical fights only during games with other teams. Once i got crosschecked so I punched the guy in the stomach when the refree wasnt looking. Not very proud about that but in sports i was always hot headed.
After this one i stopped having fights and just play very physical.
Second year i stopped having fights because i became captain.
Once I also crosschecked a teammate cause he hit me with elbow twice during a training on purpose.
>>768853121
Dude you don't understand, the coaches actually made us memorize that shit and gave us homework for it. I am just estimating I could be wrong
HS football and wresting freshmen year. Training was tough but I liked that. Was already big from weights so the cardio got me lean. Teammates where great. Didn't come back soph because I realized the coaches took that shit too serious. Plus they wanted me to practice all summer long. Took the fun out of it.
>>768850416
I played football in high school, i played line backer, i was good enough to get a scholarship for UCLA but then everything went down the shitter
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M5c7nsB7SI
>>768850416
soccer and baseball. hated soccer, loved baseball
the whole soccer experience was just a joke. barely any training, no strategy. I guess our coach just didn't care
the baseball team however had this real competition feeling. People took it way more seriously than they probably should. I guess some people on the team had hopes of going pro.
>>768853232
I honestly don't know. I think the team in question hated us because they thought we were the rich school. But we really weren't haha. And I played left wing. Wasn't very good to be honest but I did my job.
>>768850416
>From Texas
>Play Football
>Receiver
>I was quick and agile but not fast like our Deep Receivers.
>I was good, but I wasnt Tall or Fast enough for Varsity
>Finally a Senior, Time to for Friday Night Lights
>Coach say if I join Varsity I wont have as much play time. Suggested if I actually wanted to play I should stay JV.
>Mad
>No longer played
>Now the NFL has players that our my exact build. Really Salty about it too.
>Had 5 TDs
>>768850416
American Football
Highschool, College
Was a hell of a lot of fun.
Training was difficult (as a lineman we were required to run a mile in under 6:30), weight lifting, restricted diets, etc..
Rivalries were fun, not intense hatred or anything.
I've got some nagging injuries years later but I would't go back and change it.
>>768851723
I think the poster you're replying to didn't have summer camp. Sounds like you did (and I did) and yeah, it was literal hell. I still get that "feeling" early mornings in August.
>>768855164
was it really that bad
>>768855230
Not bad...just memorable. Was two weeks of mental and physical challenge.
>>768850416
I did and still do Taekwondo, I've been training since I was 5 so it isn't challenging. There wasn't much rivalry because I was the only one that regularly won medals
>>768850416
Lacrosse, the greatest sport on earth. Its all about running but the real trick was stick skill. It is easy to get the basics down, very hard to become a god among men. Its a pretty physical sport but other than the cross town rival it was just sports as usual. I actually still play in college, loads of fun.

I was on the Brooklyn Technical High School fencing team, with Mr. Yaged.
We weren't great, tbh. We had a rivalry with Tottenville, but would lose more than we won. Also, we had like, 0 school spirit, because all of our BTHS athletics were a fucking joke. We even had a morbidly obese cheerleader. Our football team was called "the Engineers."
So yeah, nobody made a big deal about it, because we all sucked, but it was fun to do and at least I know how to fence foil and saber.

Yes. Rib pads are awkward when running and are just dead weight. The risk is there but eating a shot only sucks for a little bit. Worse I have seen was like six years ago when a kid took a shot to the chest and it killed him.

I was in baseball, wrestling, basketball, football, track, and cross country. Quit basketball in highschool to wrestle. Football was definitely the most fun and training for wrestling was the hardest of them all by far.

I bet your neck needed it's own zip code

>>768850416
Played Football, ran track, and played soccer It was a lot of fun.
I got up at 4am every morning to run until 630am.
I wouldn't say we were "rivals" but we definitely pushed each other to be better
Only thing I really did was swimming ever since I was little. Club team until I got to High School, then the school team throughout those years. Had a decent amount of fun, kept me in real good shape because it works all muscle groups, keeps you decently toned, and is great cardio. Within the team, cooperation and whatnot was pretty good; I mean it's mostly a self-improvement sport as you're more focused on your own times rather than the overall team standings. We had our "rival" schools but any competitive mindsets were all amicable between schools; never any bitterness or hostility, again because the focus is on your own times and less on team performance, especially when qualifying for districts/states. I really miss it if only because it was the best shape I've ever been in.
I also did pole vault on the HS track team for a season, but that was mostly because my friends all did it and the coach was a pushover so we just dicked around the whole time. Was pretty fun to do though.
>>768850416
I played football in high school, and I had fun with it. The training was difficult because we had like 5 hour practices at times. I also got a few concussions. As for rivalries, my football team had one with another local team. After our game my junior year, our teams got into a huge fight.
>>768857619
soccer must be easy for you if you run track, 10/10 cardio
>>768850416
Football and rugby until I fucked up my shoulder. After that I just swam. But swim was the best. I was pretty good, but the best part of it was that I got lean as fuck. After putting on muscle playing rugby and football I lost all of my fat and got ripped and tan swimming. Didn’t really help too much in the girl department bc no one walks around school shirtless, but I had a gf anyways. Swim was fun but hard. We swam for 2 hours a day, swimming sometimes 3+ miles. Meets we’re chill because I’d just show up for my events and then mess around with my friends the rest of the time. As far as rivalry it’s kind of hard, you’re either better than someone or you’re not, I was the best breast stroker on the team so I just trained hard enough to stay the best. Against other schools it was the same. You generally wouldn’t swim against someone twice because the number of races you can be in is limited. And I’m the off chance that you did swim against someone twice it still didn’t really matter.
tldr: swim got me ripped was hard to train for and wasn’t super rivalry intense.
Played lacrosse on hs and got recruited to play in college

Played football since 4th grade through high school, shit was awesome while it lasted. I was pretty awkward growing up but so it gave me a crew to hang around with. Plus it was a lot of fun hitting people; I was a lineman and I definitely got a natural high from man handling and smacking around opponents during games.
Practices/lifting could be a bitch, we had a week of three-a-days, literally 8-10 hours of working out, those sucked. But they got me into great shape that I'm still coasting off it 6 years after.
Everyone on the team got along, particularly bonded with kids in the same general position as me. Had a few team "rivalries" but honestly it wasn't a big deal; there just wasn't much of a reason to care unless the other players took cheap shots/played dirty. Really there was a rivalry between our high school's football and hockey teams. The hockey fucks thought they were all big shits cause they got recruited for our prep team, but they were all douches, weren't even a good team, and the dumbest cliche in the school.

>left tackle on offense and right tackle on defense in highschool football
>training was not difficult for me since I started at a young age
>we were rivals with only one team because they thought they had hotter cheerleaders. They did....
>>768857826
I was a lineman, but I was pretty small. I was towards the back of the group when the fight broke out, so I wasn't really involved.
I was a Yankee for 3 years.

Football, some track and field.
It can be, but i was one of the more agile big guys. They had this thing called bootcamp during off season, and on one obstacle you had to jump on a guys back as he straddled this giant log. Well this guy was skinny and i was big. Guy fell back and dropped me right onto the log back first. I remember just getting right back up and picking the guy up and finishing it.
I guess. I lost the passion for it junior year since i was working as well so i didnt get to embrace it like others did.

>Football
>Athletics
>Wakeboarding
>Light - Medium; weekly competition, local sign up. played some state rep, which bumped it up a bit.
>Light - None; muh genetic privilege, several family members with internation / national records for several sports. blessed with a pretty stable physique, but smoked cigarettes and weed throughout my school, local and state comps. was running in the 100m, 400m, HJ and LJ so I could rely on pretty basic training.
>Medium - Hard; basic skills are easy to get down (dock start, maintaining balance, etc.) but it has been the most physically demanding sport I've done. conditioning takes time as well as the wide array of bumps and knocks you can take bailing.
>I took it way to seriously, local comp but I treated it like rep (how I actually got into the rep team)
>FIERRRRRCE, pretty much the driving force behind your performance. I had a dude who always beat me by a hair and I fucking hated him for it. drove me to run better though.
>friendly atmosphere with little to almost no competition. you occasionally get a dude who wants to show off but it's more fun taking in the technique then worrying what you can't do yourself.

League or Union?
>>768850907
SON your fucking endurance must be off the chart if you're doing well; all hell distances
>>768851391
is it strange that lax seemed like the official sport of scene?
>>768852132
this bro; especially if you've got trash midfield.
>>768852192
how long for? and what's the standard time someone will have a career for in that industry?
>>768852414
sadly seems like this is dying out, still see fields around but my mum talks about it being massive back in the 80's-90's.

Tallest cunt in the thread

stupid question; do you swim underwater at any time? or is it entirely treading water?
>>768859262
>stupid question; do you swim underwater at any time? or is it entirely treading water?
It's mostly treading water although swimming under is useful in some instances, like moving from one point to the next or dodging a player marking you
>>768859524
oh ok, it seemed like if it was involved it'd be some type of movement / evasive mechanic. how long did you play for?
>>768850416
I wrestled in high school. That's about it. I'm glad I did. Made basic training after high school easier.
>>768859664
Been playing it for 9 years now
>>768850416
>Soccer and swim team. It was pretty fun but I mostly did it to get in shape.
>at first it wasn't easy at first but you get used to it. Honestly the worst was dealing with my hard ass coach when I wanted to skip morning rubs to go to jazz band practice. I didn't need to run three times a day damnit.
>no rivalry between teams that I know of. There were certain towns we didn't like for other reasons.
Track and cross country. PRs: 1600m- 4:27 3200m- 9:55 5k XC- 15:45. Got really serious with training in the summer after sophomore, improved a lot.
>>768860095
>There were certain towns we didn't like for other reasons.
what reasons?
>>768860145
Muscatine was full of Mexicans that played dirty and the whole town smelled awful because of some factory. Bettendorf always beat our football team at our homecoming so a lot of guys hated them. And North Scott was just rich dicks, apparently.
>>768850416
Swim team, very fun.
Training was easy
Not much rivalry mostly good sportsmanship.
>>768860536
>Muscatine was full of Mexicans that played dirty
played dirty how? wasn't there a ref in games?
what position did u play
>>768850416
I played D1 Lacrosse. Absolutely love the sport. I never cared for the culture around the sport, rich white boys, but I took it for what it was worth so I could play.
And also I pulled chicks way the fuck out of my league just for being on the team and going to the parties.
>>768852476
Very underrated sport and really tough too. I've heard some horror stories from the it
>>768850416
Football started offense and defense. It was hard and physically exhausting but lots of fun. Also I did swimming. Freestyle and backstroke. Not as fun. I enjoy team sports much more. Not really much rivalry in swimming and quite a bit in footbal.
>>768861368
from your experience whats harder offense or defense?
Football in high school and college. Baseball in high school. I would have played baseball in college but it was competitive as fuck to make the team and damn near impossible if you were taking classes full time outside of sports.
Baseball from 3 to 22 years old between tee ball and college (D2 school, nothing spectacular). Now softball beer leagues. I'm not answering your question but that's fine it's a sunny warm day.
>>768860751
I played right wing. They'd do illegal slide tackles and grab your jersey so you couldn't get a good touch on the ball. To be fair, I did the same with tackling when I thought I could get away with it.
The refs weren't great and allowed a lot of rough play. I only got carded for a bad tackle once (on my home field) and never saw Muscatine players carded for it.
>Football, hated it
>For me, yes
>No
>>768861910
jersey grabbing is such a shit move in soccer i hate when people do it
>>768860938
Oh shit man where'd you play
>>768850416
Im in France so
>muay thai and still doing it
>yeah
>not that much we are pushing each Ă´ter
And that it b/ro
>>768862006
Our coach was a hard ass Scottish guy who would prepare us for it in practice. But yeah it pissed me off when I saw it/had it done. I'd never do that. Our team hardly ever even flopped for time.
>>768862056
Navy
Played lacrosse
Wasn’t too difficult but I had asthma so I got to sit out a lot
There was just about no rivalry
I did American football as well as wrestling and weight training in highschool
>>768862258
That's badass, is it true players respect navy players more?
>>768862237
I'm a very very casual soccer fan. Can't get into it more because of the intentional flopping and how that culture is celebrated across the highest level of the game. Probably why I like hockey so much.
>>768862237
were you targeted by the mexican cunts? Being a right wing you were probably in the firing line for them
>>768862518
Hockey is more entertaining to me too. Hard to beat fast pace and fist fights. I rarely watch soccer, I played for the physicality of it really. Swimming was too easy for me.
>>768862495
I dunno. I guess? The tv guys always say shit like that because we're all in the military. Players are players though. It's a game. We compete. We party afterward.
>>768859262
wakeboarding = pussy magnet
>>768863025
I'm more curious about what you do in the navy. Are you still in the service? Any deployments etc?
>>768862604
These guys just fucked up our whole team with their bullshit play. But yeah they went hard at the mids and forwards (which I also occasionally played). It doesn't help that they put the bigger guys as defenders. By the end of the matches I was on edge and probably excessive with the slide tackles.
>>768856470
This anon is on fire today. Best toast
>>768863151
was it difficult to outrun/dribble the big defense guys? I would expect them to be quite slow. What was your height/weight at the time?
>>768862258
You guys are nice. respect
>>768850416
hockey and soccer
not really
non-existent
>>768863116
Drove surface ships. Was on an amphib that carried helicopters and harriers (LHA) thats since been decommissioned.
>>768850416
Baseball for 8 years and soccer for 13 years, safe to say I was a normal kid
>>768863278
I was 6'2" 170 pounds. But not so in shape. I'm the same now but I traded fat for muscle. I can't remember specifics of the games but I'd say close to even because these guys had a lot more practice. I just got into it for the cardio, I had only golfed, swam and played a little tennis before.
>>768864481
6'2 170 and you had fat? No, hunny.
>>768861482
Offense as strong side tackle was much harder. I loved defense. Played defensive end/Outside tackle.
>>768857475
170
>>768864481
That was my size and weight as a freshman lineman. No way you were fat.
>>768866357
That's a difficult class for sure. Was your record any good?
>>768866062
You mentioned there was a bit of rivalry in the sport, most people ITT say that was usually related to location (two schools in the same town etc), was that the case?
Yeah tennis
>>768850416
Despite shitty grades, mom forced me into ar least one extracurricular activity.
So as a future /b/tard, I was the slow chubby kid on the swim team that everyone else made fun of.
>thanks for the memories, op
>>768866938
reeeee tennis players are some of the biggest chads around
>>768866458
Ya it was. No not really I was shorter and stocky and everyone I wrestled was tall and lengthy and made it pretty difficult
>>768852476
good god
any more pics?
>>768868331
eh nothing out of the ordinary, water polo looks boring in pictures because all you see is water splash
