>ever had a masturbatory fantasy involving a close family member?
I have, but I'm not going to go into detail.

I believe I was born with it. I've always been a bit quirky. But, there's no way to really know.

Do you actually hear them? I developed it later in life but don’t have the ability to hear things in my head anymore due to an injury earlier in life. She talks to me instead by me just thinking her words like my own thoughts, while she also visualizes a keyboard typing her words as she says them. I always thought it would be lovely to actually hear her

>how does it feel, to have it ?
Feels like being trapped in someone else's head.
Unconnected thoughts coming and going with no warning. Thoughts I have no control over, and no desire to think.
>>768767527
>Do you hear voices that tell you to kill people?
I do hear voices, they do not tell me to kill people.

It's true in some cases, but largely, is a stereotype.

>how do you feel when people think you mean you have multiple personalities
It doesn't trigger any sort of emotional response, such as offense or anger. It does make me.... annoyed, for lack of a better word. At the lack of education for mental health.
>what am I saying you're schitzo you don't have feeling
That isn't very nice,Anon.
>>768767827
>What sort of things do you hear
Mostly just unconnected sentences, or words. Formally known as "word salad". I don't typically speak in this way which is how the term is normally used.
And I often mishear what people say. It's difficult to provide examples for that though.
>/see?
I see a large range of things. Mostly just "miss-seeing" things. Such as, a stopsign will look like a person. Or a tree will look like a monster. Etcetera.

People aren’t generally born with schizophrenia, it most often begins to surface in the late teens - early 20’s. Disproportionately affects men over women.
>>
>>768767049
can you tell the difference between a hallucination or a vivd imagination? i had a great roommate who dealt with schizophrenia; he'd ask me how many people are in the room, or whether I was hearing the same sound he was hearing. I was always happy to fact-check with him. he was often paranoid, but I'd just ask him to hang out and maybe watch a movie to take his mind off the voices.

I did for a short period of time. I can't really explain how I managed to realize that they weren't real. I still treat them as if they were.
>is there anyway I can help her deal with the truth?
There isn't really much you can do, other than stay with her. Depending on how it progresses for her, she may just get over it by herself.
If she is on medication, make sure she is taking her prescribed doses, it usually does wonders for things like that.
>>768768374
>Is Monogatari any good?
I enjoyed it.

Have you ever taken LSD-25? If you have, did you feel like it changed the way you think in anyway?

I have had an episode before of slight mania when comming down on acid. Ive had voices say things behind my ears and thoughts of people Idk tell me things in my head. Its also commom for users that a predisposed of getting schizophrenia later in life will kickstart the symptoms of their schizophrenia earlier on in life.

Not really. They both kind of blur together.
But, there are some tells. Like if I close my eyes and a random image shows up like, say, a goldfish with big teeth and googly eyes, I would say that is more of a hallucination than a vivid imagination.
But if I close my eyes and actively try to picture something, and it shows up with the same clarity, I would say that is vivid imagination.

Indeed, there are cases of genetically predisposed people "activating" their inherent schizophrenic symptoms via use of hallucinogens, but this is still rare. Mostly schizophrenic symptoms arise naturally, in the mid-late 20's.

Well, I think you know the answer to that. I cannot tell you what you should, or should not do. That's a choice only you, yourself can make.
The fact that you've identified hospitalization as a potential solution for your problem, means it's something you probably want.

I think one of the virtues of being human is that we are self aware enough to try to rise above the daily struggle of survival and pull each other up. Too many people are needlessly selfish and inconsiderate of others, but they could be so much more. I don’t resent anyone for doing what they have to to survive, but I can’t abide people causing harm to others for spurious reasons. So yeah, garbage.

Do you have visual hallucinations or just audio?
>>

This seems a little like cherry picking. Why enforce some Latin rules while ignoring others? English has far fewer conjugations and no declynsions, so it seems clear that prescribing it according to Latin rules wouldn’t really work. Language changes constantly and prescriptivism isn’t going to change that. It seems regressive to religiously hold ourselves to the standards of a language that is no longer spoken. Better yet to embrace the changes that have happened over time and acknowledge that the old rules need not apply.

It's only natural to do though. Like I said, we're just animals, and like all animals, we cause harm to those around us. Sometimes for good reason, sometimes for no reason. You wouldn't blame a tiger for killing an intruder, would you?

Yes, I do that. I'm not full blown Illuminati or anything. But, everything always seems to have a separate hidden meaning.

>You wouldn't blame a tiger for killing an intruder, would you?
It's the same premise.
No, I would not blame a tiger for that, for two reasons.
1. A tiger does not possess the same level of intelligence and self awareness as humans. I wouldn’t begrudge it its instinct to attack an unknown intruder.
2. I think this may also fall under survival, since those tigers that don’t attack strange things would probably die

I don’t think it necessarily follow that it is the same premise, since we have plenty of evidence that a person’s ability to lash out at others isn’t directly related to their survival. But I take your premise that we’re just animals doing what animals do. And we must be doing some things right to have made it this far. But I don’t think it’s unreasonable to believe that a primarily social species can’t figure out how to not be dicks to each other at some point.

>since we have plenty of evidence that a person’s ability to lash out at others isn’t directly related to their survival.
It's not about survival, at least not in its entirety. It's about emotion, instinct and, actions.

What you see as "someone being a dick" is just them acting on those cores.

The primary thing is most actions are fulled by emotion, not by logic. Emotion trumps logic, it's built into us it's an evolutionary mechanism. Logic is just something we taught ourselves to view the world around us.
People don't act on logic. They feel things, those feelings trigger an instinctual action, whether it be violence, cowering, pissing themselves, crying or what have you. The point is how they got to the conclusion that the action was the correct choice. Which is the same mechanism that a tiger uses to kill the intruder.

See intruder
Emotional response
Instinctive decision to act
Action.

These actions cannot be seen as good or bad. They are neutral actions. Something the creature (rarely) has control over.

It's easy to sit back and observe the situation and say "They are a bad person for doing that." But that same exact bad action is inside of you.

>Could you describe your prodromal phase in a spooky amount of detail?
Interesting that you ask that, as I'm actually in my prodromal phase as we speak.
Which is why I'm here.
It started about two days ago. The first symptom is almost always insomnia, followed by night terrors, waking up drenched in sweat.
Then I start to feel heavy, like everything around me is just weighing on my very existence. I start losing interest in everything I'm doing. If I've made any plans I drop them, stop talking to my friends. Then I start having getting very manic. Just happy about everything for no reason. Feeling on top of the world.
Then my cognitive abilities start fading, I can't understand what people are trying to say. I can't make my own thoughts into words and I struggle to grasp even simple concepts. Then I start to get extremely depressed. That's usually when the hallucinations start to get bad. Starts of with ringing in my ears, turns into voices talking, then I start talking back. Then I start to see people to talk to then at that point I'm basically full-blown psychotic.
I'm sure I missed something, but that's pretty much how it goes.

I have everything there, except voices (unless I'm high). Plus, I haven't felt 'on top of the world' in over a year, and it was a rough episode. I literally thought I was god, or the god above god, so to speak. That's a whole other thing. I'm guessing I'm not schizo?

>But, if someone fails to do so, does that make them a garbage person?
If it causes unnecessary harm to another person or people, knowingly, willfully, then yeah, I’d say so. Frankly, my initial comment was intended to be intentionally hyperbolic. I do believe that people are generally deserving of forgiveness and redemption for bad things they do. But if we’re talking in the grand scheme of things, my impression is that humanity causes more suffering than it is worth. So my emotional, animal reaction is to call them all garbage.

Then doesn't that make every person garbage?
Everyone, at some point in their life, has caused unjust harm to someone else.
If everyone does it, is there even a point to define what is normal?
If everyone is garbage for that reason, doesn't that nullify the meaning of being garbage?

As someone who doesn't believe in "good" or "bad" your emotional argument for logical application of restraint to emotional action for the "good" of "people" doesn't make much sense.
That's a pretty convoluted way of wording that, but I can't change that.

I never said I don’t believe in good or bad. Like I said, my initial comment was purposefully hyperbolic, and like I also said I think people on an individual basis are usually deserving of forgiveness and non-garbage status. I don’t think that throwing out phrases like “people are garbage” and then choosing to not apply that phrase to everyone is any less logical than excusing people’s actions because they’re animals while maintaining that people may be held accountable for acting like them

Yes, I understand that. Even if it's hyperbolic, that doesn't mean you don't believe it. It's a core value of yours that you blow up to an extreme proportion to get your point across (Which I'm guessing you do a lot, and more often than not backlashes on you. Which is why you're 'defensive' for lack of a better term, about it being hyperbolic.)

Then we’re in agreeance on that. As I said many times, I fault people for causing unnecessary suffering on purpose. I never said I fault people for doing things they literally need to survive or for having reflexes in life-or-death situations. Your initial response was to invoke the animal argument, so my initial impression was that you had this nihilistic view that people shouldn’t be held accountable for anything because we’re all just animals. Perhaps you had the impression that I thought that causing harm to others can never be justified?

Sure, I think that’s true. Forgive me, but I’m starting to feel like you’ve taken contradictory stances through this discussion. At one point you seem almost dismissive of individual will, saying we’re all just animals. At another, you state that some people should be held accountable for their actions. Do you mean the first in a larger, spiritual sense as in there’s no greatness being holding us accountable for our actions and the second in a social sense, as in societies should hold its members accountable for transgressions that harm the community, not necessarily because actions are inherently good or bad?

You do know where you're at right anon? :^)

>At one point you seem almost dismissive of individual will
Not quite. We have the will to make choices. But will comes from logic, not emotion. Will comes from being able to stop and think.
Thinking comes after emotion.
Emotion is at our core programmed into our brains by evolution in order to survive.

In order to use logic, you must be able to override the emotional action. I.E "being a dick".
At the core, we're not meant to override the emotional response. So it's extremely difficult to do. So when someone fails to do so and acts on an emotional impulse, it does not make them a "bad" person. Is all I'm saying.
They still chose to do it, and they should be held accountable for their actions. Does that mean they should be punished? That isn't for me to decide. That is for people who believe in good or bad. Which I don't.

All I'm saying is; that acting on what we're programmed to act on does not make someone a "dick". Because, if that is the case then everyone is a dick, and since there are zero people who aren't dicks. I.E there are no "good" people, no one can be a dick.

I see. I think I understand your point of view and even find some convincing nuggets in there. However, it seems we are at an impasse where it comes to concepts of gold and bad. I agree that concepts of good and bad come from a primarily emotional place but I think the ongoing conversation over morals is an important component to any developing society; our emotional nature defines us and is even a virtue at times. You’re drawing me into a box with the dick thing. I never said that anyone who acts “emotionally” from time to time are automatically dicks. I don’t think you have to be acting from an emotional place to intentionally do harm to someone, which is what you seem to suggest. It is the blatant disregard for the well-being of others that I take issue with, and people do this in all sorts of ways, in all sorts of mental states, not necessarily while they’re emotionally hopped up. Those people are garbage. And maybe it’s a sliding scale. Maybe your analysis of my stance is correct and everyone would be garbage to varying degrees. I’m ok with that.

To put what I'm saying in a slightly more tangible way, I'll use a nonsensical metaphor.

Imagine you're a fish. With the everyone who is alive is also a fish. So humans are just fishes now. We all live in the ocean, as fishes do.

Now, we'll say that your fish papa taught you that water is cold. All fish believe this. You don't know what hot is, but you know that cold is the feeling you get when water touches your little fish butt.

Now let's zoom out a little bit. From here we can see the water is actually not cold. We'll say for the sake of this explanation it's 80degrees f.

How is the fish to determine whether the water is cold, or hot whilst being inside the water? All the information it has is what the other fish told it.
The same premise applies here in our real world example. How can you, or I even, determine what "good" is whilst we are inside what is happening. We operate by the same exact mechanism. We cannot leave our brains and view the actions of others through truly unbias, unemotional eyes.

Good or bad can only exist to a being who is not bound by the natural upbringing of being born on this planet.

That's where "morality" comes in. Morality was created by "god", a being outside our plane of existence unbound by the rules of our emotions. He can decide what is good or bad, because he is not inside the water. Now, of course, I don't believe in that god. But it helps to solidify what I'm trying to say.
Does this help?
>>
>>768795851
Yes, I got all that from the rest of what you had to say. Thanks for clarifying though. I don’t believe in a god either, so morality must be manmade. It’s not perfect but I think it is an important tool for the continuation of a harmonious society.

I would agree. Societies need rules in order to thrive. Lest they wish to devolve in to chaos.
I happen to be of the belief that society isn't required and thus good and bad are not required.
>I never said that anyone who acts “emotionally” from time to time are automatically dicks.
I know, I didn't intent to say that you did. Sometimes my hyperboles go a little too far.

>which is what you seem to suggest.
Yes, you're right there. If someone is doing that is at the expense of someone else, they're doing it for an emotional reason.
Be it that they're angry at the person and exacting revenge.
Or that bringing pain to other's brings them joy. Whatever the case may be, they're getting emotional relief from it, or the emotion caused their action.

Organization has helped us best our surroundings and accomplish things that are impossible for other species as they currently exist.

>I would contest that humanity would be impossible without society.
Sure, small-scale society. Like tribal shit. But such small-scale society does not require morality.
But, a large-scale society that we see today is completely unnecessary.
We've always had societies. Same with monkies.
>>
>>768798399
The fish butt thing was amusing, but not ha-ha funny. I appreciate the effort to lighten the mood though.
I’ll concede that large scale societies are necessary, but I don’t think the smallness of a society precludes it from having any morals. Tribes still have to regulate the behavior of its members in order to maintain unity and harmony, ie rules and moral codes. If society truly isn’t necessary, then neither are morals. But I remain convinced that society is of the utmost importance to human survival. No matter how small the society, an understanding of ground rules is essential. Seems we’ll be here all night if one of us doesn’t break off. And I’m feeling like some PUBG. Night schizanon, good to have you back.

>Tribes still have to regulate the behavior of its members in order to maintain
Yes, obviously. But how they regulate behavior is vastly different.

Tribes don't need morals. They have nature. If you fuck up and cause damage to the tribe you endanger everyone. A weak tribe is a dead tribe. No morals required, just the cold hard truth. No ambiguity.

In a large-scale society, it doesn't work like that. If someone fucks up and does damage to the society and say, kills 150 people. What is really lost? The society doesn't lose anything of real value. There are millions more.
That's where morals come in. To dissuade that behavior society brands you as a "bad" person. Bad people get cast from society, if you're not in society you die.
