Half the problem was a couple of years ago in Australia the govt let businesses give out a type of visa to anyone overseas who wanted to work. No skill requirements or university degree requirements or nothing.
Big business didn't like paying Aussies the proper wage and benefits so they were flying HR recruiters to countries like Indonesia and the Phillipines and just hiring randoms off the street. Hey you, mate, wanna work for us in Australia? Yea you can bring your family, we'll give you $8 an hour and no benefits. Still better than your shithole country? Sweet.
They closed that loophole or whatever it is since but the damage has been done, lots of industries are full of fucking Filos now who'll work twice your hours, less breaks, half your pay and take no leave or benefits.
Then there's Chinese Birthing houses. Chinese people pay $10's of thousands to fly to Australia when pregnant and give birth to their child on Aussie soil. It makes their child an Australian citizen which means the mother gets a visa by default to take care of the kid. Then the father flies in with his Spousal visa and then brings the other kids because "well who's gunna take care of them?" so they get visas too.
Shit's fucked because at the end of the day the govt only care about one thing: money. More taxpayers = more money. They don't give a fuck that you have to work until age 70 and then pay for your own retirement. They dont give a fuck that lots of blokes out there are working 12-18h days, doing unpaid overtime and getting screwed out of benefits. As far as the govt is concerned they're making fucking bank and they know the Australian people are too lazy to actually get off their asses and protest shit. They also know they can shut down any political contest with their hand in the media and big business """donations""".
