My school didn't have a uniform untill I've graduated, but we were required to wear suits or at least something that would be called "casual". It's actually worse than having a uniform and having no dress code, since it eradicates both of their advantages. When it's a uniform, everyone looks nearly the same and has less ways to show off. It especially was a problem for girls who would get teased or bullied for not dressing "cool" enough. But the way it was it's like "no, you can't dress how you like, but there is still a lot of visual difference between you and the rich kids.
