Is RAM the only thing responsible for the speed of a computer? Does the processor plays a role too?
>>
You're a fucking idiot. I hate you.

bump
>>

I know.
>>
ram, processor, mobo, hard drive speed, graphics card, clockrate and size. your internet speed also helps. if your trying to game on dial-up your gonna have a bad time.if you want a fast pc dont cheap out im $20K in
>>
>>768700115
Thank you very much.
>>
>>768699230
you gotta get a solid state disk (ssd) before doing some crazy shit like buying a new ram, so your computer will open archives faster and do less sound (no mobile parts = no friction = no heat/sound)
>>
Ryan calm the fuck down
>>
>>768699230
Yep. If your computer is running slow, just throw another 16gb RAM on there it should speed right up
>>
>>768700329
I'm just interested in watching youtube videos. For some reason, my computer gets really slow when doing this.
>>
>>768699230
As retarded as it is, the hard drive speed makes a big difference and if it's slow it will bottle neck your pc
>>
>>768700637
dude please just stop
>>
>>768699508
I second this and i'd like to add and I hope you die painfully, in the dark, alone
>>
If you're a car guy, this will make sense

CPU speed = max rpms
RAM = cylinder displacement
Disk = gas tank
motherboard = engine block
>>
>>768699230
The size of the box is crucial to the speed. A small box will never be as fast as a big box.
>>
>>768701430
Now I get it. Thank you.

>$20K
wait a bit man it can bee cool with 2k
>>
>>768699230
The motherboard determines almost all bottle-necks. It doesn't matter if you have the latest gen GPU, CPU and a ton of RAM if your motherboard can't keep up.

The CPU is the one handling the ram, the calculations and the secondary memory accesses. So it limits memory.

RAM is pretty fucking neat and it's almost always useful to have more. But if you don't have the beef to run the programs, the motherboard, and the CPU that would use it's potential, then it's useless.
>>
>>768700329
SSD is only good to install programs on, not to keep files that will need to be updated/rewritten. It deteriorates waaaaaaaaaaaay faster with use.

What i'm saying is, keep the OS and programs you know you won't uninstall/update regularly in the SSD. But keep a HDD for everything else.
>>
>>768701840
This, so many people fuck up a build by cheaping out on the motherboard, unless it's for ultra high resolution gaming it should be the primary consideration
>>
>>768700637
Have you checked that it isn't the forced 60fps? That would be a GPU problem. Either too weak/old or drivers outdated.

Could still be a memory issue, but check this as well.
>>
is 8 gigs of 2133 mhz ddr4 ram enough for all the new games?
>>
>>768702254
No.
>>
>>768702273
is 12?
>>
>>768702532
Depends, do you mind playing every game with the lowest texture resolution? It's a sad reality, but textures are what tend to eat up all the ram.

If you want beauty you'll at least need 32 probably.
>>
>>768702128
I have the asus prime b250m-a 200 series board with my i5 7500 and gtx 1050ti with 8 gigs of 2133 mhz ram , if I buy another 8 gig stick of ram can I play all new games without stutter? on maxed 1080p res? only game that stutters is black ops 3

Calling his mom, peeing his pants
>>
>>768699230
you can download more RAM here for free

https://downloadmoreram.com/download.html
>>
>>768702762
I'm not going to google all that shit. What makes it stutter? Objects on screen? Render distance? Texture resolution? What fps do you get when it's not stuttering? Do you use effects like motion blur, ambient occlusion, etc?
>>
>>768699230
>133 mhz
WHAT
>>
>>768702940
I don't know it just stutters sometimes when I jump I have everything on default, and its natually on high settings at 60fps I think I tried lowering graphics to medium but it still stutters could it be the ram??
>>
>>768702762
>>768702940

It's obviously his 1050ti, you don't need to be a computer fucking expert to realize this.
>>
>>768703292
:( I couldn't afford a good graphics card at the time, the prices where triple the norm. I paid $250 for the 1050ti when Its msrp is normally $120
>>

HAH
got the top of the lite 10050 ti for 150 flat. you got scammed.

bought off new egg in late December I also live in Canada where its 75 cents to your almighty dollar
>>
>>768704060
It was actually $241 with tax
>>
>>768704060
you live in America?
>>
are your legs the only responsible part of your body for speed? Of course not retard, everything is connected, you could have the fastest legs but if you have a fatass belly you wont be fast

You could buy 16 GB of RAM but if you have i3 and the motherboard you stole from your cousin your computer will be shit, just fucking kill yourself we dont need idiotic normies who cant even understand basic computer knowledge here
>but every is allowed to ask questions anon
if you make this kind of idiotic questions you must be a nigger or below 18, in whatever case you should get banned and your mom raped FUCK YOU OP YOU RUINED MY WHOLE DAY, FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT
>>
>>768703737

it's not a super bad card /b/ro, just lower some settings I recommend lowering shadows & AA for FPS games.
>>
>>768704704
I mainly play csgo and it runs 200 fps on average I think on default settings, but got black ops 3 just to test out, and it stutters slightly on high settings. But thanks for the info what is AA? I just built a bc a few months ago so I am new to PC's in general

Sounds stupidly overpriced for a home computer unless you do CAD at your home office or something.

buy a black case and it'll run faster

Reminds me of the era when RAM used to be in MB. It's actually exactly the same nowadays, it will all be useless in 10 years and the game play didn't improve a bit and AI is still retarded and all is scripted forever
>>
>>768699230
Open up your task manager and either look at the percentages for usage for memory under process tab, or look at the graphs for memory usage under the performance tab. Then open up yt and play a video

If you have issues and see that those issues have corresponding spikes under memory usage, then you MIGHT benefit from more RAM. From there go to system info and look for how much RAM your computer has vs how much it can hold. You probably have 2 slots on a laptop, but they may be in use.

If you think RAM is the issue, and you have space for more, then google the crucial RAM checker. That will tell you what RAM to buy, how much more RAM your CPU can handle, etc.

Just did this myself. Had huge frame rate drops on an older gaming laptop out of nowhere as games updated and became bigger hogs. Turns out I was only utilizing one RAM slot because I tried to carry over old, incompatible RAM. So I bought another 8gbs to max out what my CPU allows for and everything is going great now.

DISCLAIMER
YT usually fucks up because of weak internet connection or too many devices sucking up bandwidth. That's likely your issue.
>>
>>768702254
god no. OW won't play well on that.

go 16 bare minimum for gaming. That's not even really that good, but it will get you by
