Just got a replacement for my old Dell keyboard, I got a Logitech wireless keyboard and I am furious at how flimsy it is at a pricetag of thirty fucking dollars, what a fucking scam.
>>768611447
I'm still using one of the old fat space bat dell keyboards. I know it's not gonna last forever and I really need to look into getting a replacement now.
I feel your pain anon.
>>768611447
thats what you get for buying a wireless keyboard
>>768611447
I bought some weird Magic Wings keyboard from Wish for like 5 bucks and its the best keyboard ive ever had.
>>768611447
$30 isnt enough for a quality keyboard
>>768611673
Wish shill gtfo
Why would you get a wireless keyboard?
Why did you expect quality from a $30 keyboard!
>>768611727
I mean its true. You wanna spend 30+ for a shitdick keyboard go ahead. Im just saying I spent 5 and got one that outplays any ive had before.
>>768611723
Fuck off.
>>768611958
well it isn't...
spend like $100 at least you use it alot
Hey OP, I would reccomend a mechanical keyboard. While you might not consider one due to the higher price, it is in my opinion worth it, this coming from a guy who spent 200$ on a keyboard. Mechanical switches are not only proven to last longer, but they feel so much better to use than shitty membrane keyboards, and can prevent fatigue in your fingers after typing for extended periods of time. If you have the money to go for a mechanical, i would 100% reccomend it and guarantee that you will not regret your purchase.
get a mechanical keyboard you fucking peasant
>>768612142
If you don't use keyboards for games, why not get a cheap business keyboard every 5 or 6 years.
OP picked the wrong one, but there are lots of OK $5 keyboards out there.
>>768612391
Mouse is more important for gaming that's why I had a big fuck off Dell office keyboard and a really nice mouse.
>>768611447
You'd need to pay at least 60-70$ to get an actually decent keyboard that will last. Membrane keyboards will always wear out faster than a mechanical keyboard
TLDR: You'll need to pay more than $30 for a decent keyboard
>>768612391
old ass IBM keyboards are great
>>768611447
Spend a bit more and get a mechanical keyboard. You won't be let down.

Apart from the function keys being a little bit further away from the number keys, they were a joy to type on.

my brother gave me this i dont know what its worth but its pretty great
>>768612391
I have stated a few of the advantages of mechanical keyboards over membrane but there are many more, most of which don't even have anything to do with gaming. For example, a membrane keyboard requires a key to be completely bottomed-out (pressed all the way down) for the key to activate. Where as a mechanical you only have to press the key about half way down. This means less travel distance, and increased typing speed. Also as mentioned before, less pain/fatigue when typing for extended periods of time. Most mechanical keyboards last around 10 years, depending on how much you use it. Your claim that a 5$ keyboard lasts 5 years seems absurd to me, do you have any proof of this claim? You can research mechanical switches they are all rated to a certain number of presses. Cherry MX switches are rated at a lifespan of 50 million keypresses. A 5$ membrane keyboard lasting for 25 million keypresses is very surreal to me.
OP I paid 30 leaf dollaridoos for this. unironically the best kb I ever bought, except for the lack of customization for RGB

Mechanical keyboards are pretty much superior in every way except the price, or if you don't like the sound it makes. Personally I love the sound of a mechanical keyboard but I've heard others don't like it
>>768613353
He's talking about really old office keyboards that have declined in value and were made to last, pretty much the opposite of op's keyboard.
>>768613455
they're pretty bad in the case of a spill. some logitech dome keyboards suggest putting it in the dishwasher.
>>768613455
Even if you dont like sound, you can always get MX browns, blacks, or reds. They make almost no sound apart from bottoming out, and adding O-rings can help dampen this sound also.
>>768613584
dont be a fucking disgusting pig and get your cheeto stained fingers or 7up on your keyboard.
>>768613771
its the beer. my right arrow button is very sticky and i've completely dismantled it.
>>768613584
I've spilled water on mine and it's fine, you just have to immediately disconnect it, clean it, and make sure it's dry before you switch it back on
>>768613879
i spilled beer...twice. sticky stuff when dry.
>>768613584
Not all but yes most are. Example: Corsair K68 is "spill-proof". And there are a few others I have seen, but I personally dont usually set drinks within spill range of my keyboard so this isnt an issue that I have to worry about. But if you are someone who spills things quite a bit then you may want to look into one of the keyboards such as the K68 or similar
>>768613099
Is there any brand or feature that you'd recommend? It feels like a bit of a jump for me tbh
>>768614015
mine
>>768613382
is more or less waterproof. it's entirely aluminum and the switches are surface mounted, preventing water from entering at all
>>768613879
That would have happened on a membrane keyboard as well. I work in IT and I've had to replace countless membrane keyboards after something was spilled on them and they stopped working
>>768611447

With all of your non-gaming IT-related stuff spend a bit more and get a business class device. They not only last longer but are generally a better quality than mid to high class consumer level equipment.

I had a clean one not so long ago. The users actually just take shit out of the server room though. I've hard to start locking the good shit in the rack.
>>768617374
Why are users allowed in a server room in the first place?
>>768616982
why are there two delete buttons touching eachother?

>>Switchboard
But it’s NOT a switchboard. A mechanical keyboard is.
And why do you consider that a lot for a keyboard? Just because you can buy a even shittier one for $15?
>>768617428
They aren't, but where I work most of our servers and switches are beyond end of life with dying fans in a room with poor cooling so the door stays open a lot. Management refuses to listen to requests. I can only make recommendations..
>>768617331
What does that have to do with a shit keyboard?
>>768617562
Ones delete and ones backspace, they delete in opposite directions. Most every keyboard has them just not next to each other.
>>768617302
Then you dont deserve to have a pc then
>>768617765
My graphics card is where I spent all my cash on
>>768617721
Understood, most of the server rooms I go in have security on them, a lot, so nobody is walking out with anything that they didn't go in with.
>>768617824
AGAIN, then YOUR BUDGET is the problem NOT what you get for it. If you had MORE MONEY then you wouldn’t care that both were a good amount of money would you?
>>768617728
A lot. You can buy some made in china shit that'll break really fast for next to nothing or buy something that will last and will cost something. The analogy is the same, watches from canal street and cheap shit keyboards from china.
>>768617833
It's a double edged sword that I can't do anything about. The good part is that there are a couple users tech savvy enough that I can ask to grab a spare monitor from the room and hook it up if I'm off-site.
>>768611447

after 17 years using a microsoft mechanical keyboard on an almost daily basis, I actually fear the day it finally gives up the ghost.
unfortunately, working as a craftsman with metal, wood and wax dust, oil, and all sorts of crap, I just wish it were as pristine as this picture. my one is an utterly foul beige and grey layer of filth.
really should pop all the keys off and clean it soon.
