Try doing math with Roman numerals. Tell me how that goes. Also naming stars is plotting objects in a massive 3d space. When you do that without any kind of guide and keep accurate records over hundreds of years it's kind of a big deal. Not to mention the optics needed for that (telescopes/lenses). The middle east was Christian, Jewish and Zoroastrian far longer than it was Muslim. The ancient Persians were far more advanced that Muslims were. Arab does not mean Muslim.

There was no introduction of groups or other algebraic structure, of homomorphisms between said structures. That's the foundation of algebra. Algebra didn't really begin until the 1800s.

Anon isn't totally wrong, basic algebra is widely credited as coming from the middle east. But two points: 1. the fact that algebra originated from the same part of the world that is also predominantly Muslim is irrelevant. Islam itself was in no way responsible for advent of more advanced calculation. To say otherwise is to suggest that Christianity gave us the theory of evolution (Darwin was Unitarian). 2. I'm still not overly impressed by a cultures contribution to the advancement of mankind if it is such a basic concept that I learned it in the 4th grade. Had someone in the middle east not formalized it, it would have surfaced somewhere else eventually.

The advances made in that part of the world 2000 years ago have little to no bearing on what Islam is as a faith or what it perpetrates upon the world today. I could give a steaming wet shit if they were good at counting or if they did so before or after people of another culture or faith. Islam is a dangerous blight on humanity because of the bigotry and contempt for outsiders that it indoctrinates. As a faith it not only condones but encourages lying to others if it meets the goal of advancement of Islam. But again, this time from the other side, this is almost wholely irrelevant today. My point is that it does not matter what they did or did not do centuries ago. It in no way excuses what they are or what they do today. Further, those advancements are not correlated with the religious dogma of those people. Even if we play pretend that these advances originated from that region, it was not the religion of Islam that brought them forth. It was necessity and curiousity. Islam as a faith and an ideology is pure dogshit that only halts advancement.
