Here's a thing: a steady 2% of attempted suicides from the Golden Gate Bridge survive the attempt.
During the late 80s a guy went around trying to interview them. Of course he couldn't contact them all and not all wanted to talk but (and here's the point) of the ones he spoke to 100% reported that as they stepped off the bridge they saw their life in perspective and realised what a massive mistake it was to throw it all away over whatever the hell it was that was troubling them.
I saw a guy hit a boat from the Sydney Harbour Bridge, his head and arms were in the boat, pretty much recognisable, what hit the water was just smashed.
I sometimes think about how he must have regretted his leap before he spontaneously disassembled.
