Actually he'll be remembered as the president that warned us not to get into wars, and pulled us out. That helped to save us from what could have been depression level recession thanks to the last Republican president that created massive deficits and started a random war in Iraq the cost trillions. That began us, rightly or wrongly, on the march to socialized medicine.
I didn't agree with the socialized medicine. It hobbled him politically. But he did it for his grandma and I understand that.
But he and his economic team were sound and did as well as anyone could expect. They did save the economy in a way. Maybe a little too well. Moral hazard.
We are on a dangerous path now. The tax cuts are not generating the boost everyone was expecting. By pulling out of Iran, Trump has effectively increased energy prices even further dampening any boost. Our deficit is out of control. His tweeting has rocked the faith in the stock market. Instability scares people. Scared people don't want to invest in factories or pay people more.
When the recession hits, we'll have a hard time fighting out of it since we didn't save when times were good.
