Mathematics are a way to describe things that are governed by the fixed rules of our universe, so of course they're not made up.
The only thing that is "invented by humans" are conventions in communication, kinda like languages.
The word dog can be expressed in many different languages, but that doesn't change the fact that it's all the same physical thing, a dog.
The conventions in mathematics are only there to ensure that everyone everywhere can understand them. Therefore in school you are supposed to learn the same standard as everyone else, so that you can communicate your ideas with everyone else.

It does have a solution if you calculate it with infinite resulution.
We can calculate as many digits of pi as we want, even though the atomic limit is reached after like 50 or so. That's because it's an universal constant.
In your picture, the calculator tries to calculate it is exact as it can with the limited number of bits it has available and doesn't get the exact result that would have an error of 0. This one has an error of 0.0000000001.
However, 2+2 is 4 with an error of exactly 0.
The hypothenuse of the shown triangle has a ratio of sqrt(2) to its sides, with an error of 0.
