Marines in peacetime go insane. The fuck fuck games aren’t worth it.

The army doesn’t have similar games?

The army pays you more
>>
>>768126300
They have their own. But peacetime army is a day job. Garrison life for marines is extended boot camp.

You can stop being Army, but you're a Marine forever. No kidding, they can call you up even when you're 90 and put a gun in your hand and make you shoot gooks.
>>
>>768126099
I'd imagine there's more room for post-enlistment advancement in the Army than in the Marines.
>>
>>768126467
Most likely they’d put you in a training cadre. But yeah there are some eternal MOS.

I mean the army is cool but being a Marine is a cut above in my opinion. Sure it sucks but every branch has some shit aspect to it. For me it was the Corps because it was difficult. Nothing is given.

Currently enlisted in Marines. Peacetime sucks ass. It’s not extended boot camp or fuck duck games, but instead doing extra work to seem necessary, important, or still relevant even though we’re really doing nothing necessary, important, or relevant. Something like being tasked with finding which keys on a 100+ key ring set are still being used, and what keys belong where.
>>
>>768127046
>no fuck fuck games

The army is about to have these.
>>
Former Marine here. It all depends on your job more than anything. Make sure that you doing something that you will enjoy and can equip you to get employed once you EAS. I was an airwing guy. If I did it again, I would do work on drones. There were some Big bonuses being offered to guys to lat move into that MOS.

Marines are the toughest and will make you harder. They also are the the most limited in scope. They have the least amount of job choices, smallest enlistment bonuses, yada yada but it’s more of a club than the army is. And every Marine goes through combat training regardless of their job.

Army has the biggest bases and the most jobs to choose from (but are more limited in aviation jobs). Army is a little bit easier but deployments are long as shit.

As far as fuck fuck games go, if you’re kind of a doofus, life can be hard for you under either branch. You know that guy in your class that people would pick on and would always get in trouble for some reason? Don’t be that guy.

If you want to join the branch that'll treat you the most like shit, give you the worst equipment possible for your job, and give a shit less about you unless you are 100% in to being a brainwashed gorilla then go Marines. If you want all of that, but lessened by about 50%, go Army. If you want to fucking cruise and live a chill life while also enlisting, go Air Force.

armu bruh.
1. guaranteed job if you qualify. but like anything in the military still gotta pass the the training
2. airborne. or fir that matter you wanna do cool shit like jump from planes or helicopters army has more money/opportunities to go. the mariens you have to almost blow everyone for a simple recertification for a job you already do.
3. rangers. airborne rangers they make mariens look like the bitches they are. they have 5o sell their soul to attempt ranger school.
education benefits the armu has more opportunities to commission (become an officer) and pay for all your school aside from just the gi bill everyone gets.
op guaranteed job you want v what ever the corps wants you to be thats a no brainer

Nah, considered enlisting but went to college instead. Grew up in a military family. Watched a bunch of my friends and other kids I went to HS with join all branches back in 02/03. Alot of the Marines got PTSD and are completely fucked now, granted they were generally the ones with either the biggest chips on their shoulders or bought into the hype the hardest to begin with. The few I knew who joined the Chair Force are the ones that came out relatively okay.

Although every single one of them says the same thing these days, "DON'T ENLIST IN THE MILITARY."

Was former army infantry. We're always training or doing details yo prep for training/deployments. Besides being out in the field or rarely staying late to finish shit it is indeed a day job. I was usually in my barracks before 1700.

>>768126099
The army has gone full blown PC OP, the marine corps *combat arms* should be much more based.
Also, if youre going to join the marines join the combat arms. Theres nothing badass about a rear echelon marine, youd might as well go army and have it more kush; or if youre a nigger. Niggers love rear echelon jobs.
>>
I'll break it down like this..

Respect for (perceived) intelligence:
1 Air Force
2 Army/Navy
3 Marines

Respect given for warrior ability:
1 Marines
2. Army
3 Navy
4 Air Force.

Use that to help you decide OP
>>
Air Force is pretty cozy. I'm at my first duty station and it ain't half bad over here. If you wanna be a bad ass but still live the cozy life on nice bases when you aren't deployed, there's spec. Ops but I don't really know shit about them. Lots of relaxed office jobs in the air Force and a lot of maintenance jobs that lead to a decent career when you get out.

>>
>>768138337
>didn’t seem to be as much of an issue with people in the past.
Nah, it's always been around. Used to be known as "shell shock", "battle neurosis", or "combat fatigue". I figure most of it probably just went untreated. My grandad had it after seeing a group of kids get hit with WP during the WW2 Pacific campaign. Fucked up Vietnam vets were an example for along time, knew a bunch of them growing up. My uncle absolutely refuses to talk about Vietnam to this day and gets really weird if it's ever brought up. Knew a few cool old guys from Korea, at least one of them definitely had it. Knew a couple guys with Gulf War syndrome too, but that's a whole other can of worms.
>>
>>768126099
I was in the army a long time ago. It's different now. Easier. The Marines are more proud of who they are. They also have a smaller budget. MUCH smaller. So they don't get things issued that the army does. There's a lot you have to buy yourself. Marines have to learn the names and service dates of first female Marine, longest serving Marine, ect... You are not a Marine until you complete the crucible and are handed your EGA. I was a soldier, fighting in the forced which guard my country and our way of life. My daughter 1 up'd me she's a Marine
>>
>>768131764

>>
>>768140523
Army is 8 weeks. 16 if you go infantry. Marines is 16 weeks. All Marines are rifleman. Regardless of their job. Infantry goes another 6 weeks of training after the initial 16. Then their AIT training. Depending of their job in the infantry
>>
>>768140751

>>
>>768126270
Tis true. Rah my miserable brethren.
>>
>>768140751
>all Marines are riflemen

That’s not to say all Marines are infantry. Marine basic is 13 weeks. Then another four weeks of basic infantry school. POGs go to Marine Combat Training, infantry goes to Infantry Training Battalion. Both are at the School of Infantry. The curriculum is exactly the same for all Marines up to that point. After MCT, POGs go to their MOS schools, infantry to their weapons battalions.

If a wardog talks to one of our own and we know it, it all comes out. You people would never understand, so we don't bother. Your mystery is solved. Spread the word. Not hating on you, anon

I did that in the army for almost 10 years. Seen people bleed out in the gutter, body parts fly from VBIEDs, fuckers blown from Strykers like ragdolls. I sleep just fine. Plus those cunts are mostly flight-school washouts or ancient, medically disqualified pilots. In the army and marines, enlisted fly them AND work the camera

Not all. I have 179 logged jumps, with roughly another 60 or so undocumented jumps, including HALOs, and I have reasonably good knees and no health problems related to those at 55. Everybody is different. I think I may be in the minority, though, in all fairness
>>
>>768150520

Sure....Army is WAY larger. More MOSs....jobs available, better opportunities for promotions, transfers to different units, quality of life, shorter enlistments.

Army offers two year enlistments verses 4 years for Marines.

Oh, most, if not all civilians don't even know or care the difference between the Marines / Army. If you're going to make the military a career, go for the bigger branch which offers more career opportunities...Army.

You're on a 6 month float dipshit! LOL. When we were doing 18 months in IRAQ2 how long were Marine deployments? Air Force was 4 months, Marines were 5-8 max, as I recall. When we seized Kandahar airfield the Marines were there 30 days off a float, and the SOCOM Commander wanted to take their ammo away because they opened fire on the perimeter on camels or sheep being herded within range. When one dipshit opened fire, even accidentally, every fucking one of them opened up. This really happened

Correct, partially. MARSOC was stood up in 05, and is part of SOCOM, making them Special Operations Forces (SOF), like SEALS. Force was never part of SOCOM, and were not SOF. But, they were special operations rated. Which isn’t uncommon. So are scout snipers and I’ve known intel analysts who were special operations rated as well. It just means they’ve completed SERE and some shoot packages, they can be forward deployed in combat support of SOF. MARSOC runs all their combat support guys through mini CSO packages getting them rated.

Again, this doesn’t make them “Special Forces”. That designation is reserved for Green Berets. On a side note, 75th Ranger Battalion, which was traditionally a light infantry battalion, got moved to SOCOM after 9/11 and has been the DA arm of Delta for over a decade. They’re damn near Tier 1 at this point.
