I'm serious, i had the same problem. Updating the bios version and disabling some windows processes fixed the issue. My disk usage is like 2-5% now
Even tho it's working fine now, i should switch to an SSD, i advise you to do the same

You should check your disk writing bumps in task manager.. if it picks (blue lines) above 1.5mb it means the hard disk got bad sectors , overloaded or just has physical issues .. my advise is to clone it to SSD using ghost / true image

Looks like Windows forcing its cock down your throat to me. About once a month they put out updates and gather data from your system that will max out the Disk usage on some computers. Best bet is to just wait 20-30 minutes and check back.
