A good reason to believe it's not a coincidence is that if the moon/sun were slightly bigger/smaller, further/closer then we would not observe anything close to eclipses, they aren't just a close fit, it's an almost perfect fit, to tag along with this we don't know how the moon was even formed.
But let's talk about what we do know, satellites from other planets can be observed and they almost have nothing in common with our celestial satellite, saturn has almost 62 moons but we have one? For example, a flight between Auckland NZ and Santiago is almost 10,000 miles longer on a flat earth than it is on a globe.
