I had the Sega Saturn port. This was way, way before the internet was a thing and I kept a journal while playing. I started playing it when I was 10 and I didn't complete it until I was 14. I got the shit ending too. I completed the prison book, the one with the red pages.
Fuck that mine cart ride where you had to listen to sounds made to navigate it. If you didn't remember the code from one world, and that code is VERY easy to overlook, then you'll be stuck for hours taking random turns and hoping for the best.

This might help you:
1)Install game
2)Install DOSBOX
3)Start DOSBOX and mount drive (something like "mount /Z", it explains it in the title screen, pretty easy)
4)Then start the game in DOSBOX, this should make it work. It might have problems with the sound since soundcards were different back then.
OR
There should be a MYST collection on GOG which is Windows-friendly, either buy it there or download a GOG-version wherever you can find it.

To name some games I've beat, pretty much all of the Nintendo franchise games (all Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kongs, etc...), Fallout 1&2, Dungeon Keeper 1&2, Diablo 1&2, Tetris Attack, all of the Mario Karts (all cups gold), Mega Man 1-5 (don't have 6), Bart Simpson vs the World (shitty controls make this so tedious), most of the Disney games like Ducktales, Chip&Dale, Alladin, Djungle Book, Lion King etc..., Super Pong, Tiny Toons, Kabuki Quantum Fighter, Killer Instinct Gold, Secret of Evermore/Mana, Suikoden 2-4, Breath Fire 2-3, uh... bunch of more if I gave it a good thought, this was from the top of my head. Mostly play older games if you haven't noticed, or at least I remember these the fondest.
In some games I'm pretty good, can speedrun SMW in about 14-15 Minutes, nothing groundbreaking. Played a lot as a kid.
Back in the day my friends and I always played Super Mario Kart and Tetris Attack duals all night long, played on 10 while the others played on 3, I mostly stomped them with +20 chains and I perfected the 45-degree green-shell grind shot. Swoop around the corner and hit'em in the face... so satisfying.
You had to get good at those games, we were always at least 5 ppl and the loser had to give away the controller and wait till it's his turn again, so winning was essential if you wanted to play. This also made me kind of the nemesis of everybody and they worked against me, which was hilarious at times.

Faster Than Light is extremely challenging, yet rewarding. It took me about six months to complete it on Easy and a further year to complete it on Normal. Hard is said to be impossible.
I would describe this game as being somewhat like poker. All encounters, risks, rewards etc are randomly generated, so it's possible for a bad run of luck to wipe you out or a good run of luck to set you up into a great position. However, a great poker player never goes into a tournament hoping that he'll be lucky. It's about playing the game in such a way to maximize your odds at every possibility.
I absolutely love roguelikes. They are tough and challenging.
Among many Roguelikes I've beaten, I guess I'm the most proud of Pixel Dungeon and Spelunky. Not because they're hard, but because of how well made they are.

Because I jumped into this game on hard after beating almost all the operations in Second opinion with an XS rating, including all the extreme operations; and I still struggled to get As and S ranks.
