Had a buddy get fired from his job today because they did a random piss test and he popped for THC, even though weed is legal for recreational use in CA for 21 and over (he is 24)
Why does weed still have such a bad rep? As long as you aren’t coming to work high then why do people care? Why is it you can get drunk every night and still show up to work the next day and no one bats an eye, but god FORBID you smoke a plant on your free time to relax.
General stoner thread too I guess

Still believing the system is working? Nah it’s probably going to breakdown before we can come to our senses and fix it.
Got fired a month ago for having not the but inactive metabolite from over a month and a half ago in my system after breaking my foot. Half of what youd have to have in your system to fail a dipstick test. I can't get unemployment or temporary medical disability but they aren't fighting my workman's comp at least. Kinda bullshit that an employer decides how much you can have in your system for unemployment and not the government
>>767952809
What the Fuck happened there. "Not the but" belongs nowhere in there.
>>767951996
employers are free to enforce whatever rules they want to, and when your buddy took the job, he likely had to agree to those rules.
it doesn't matter one single bit that recreational use is legal in CA. That just means he won't get arrested for having under an ounce of weed on him.
Work rules are not the same as government rules.

It's been proven to affect your system and motor function up to a week after use and as little as only a day. Regardless, this anon >>767953111 and his trips are right, employers reserve their right to clean employees. It's not discrimination in the slightest.
>>767953111
I’m aware of that. I’m saying why do employers treat it the way they do. Just treat it like alcohol. Don’t show up to work high, don’t use it during work, etc..
>>767953672
It's not the same as alcohol, which metabolizes way faster.
>>767953618
it is discrimination if you're prescribed it by your doctor for something that is medically protected in california. IE. seizures, autism, epilepsy.
>>767951996
There are two reasons.
1. It's still federally illegal
2. Marijuana has been known to have lasting effects up to 12 hours, in extreme cases. The knowledge that someone smokes it, aided by the smell, which lingers for a good long time, reminds people of the extreme cases.
Bonus: If he works in a customer service position, customers might smell it.
>>767953900
It likely is, at least in some places but for more informed people, it's part of how it affects the body and how long that lasts. An employer doesn't want a liability in their workplace and that's entirely their prerogative.
>>767952894
Was prolly "nothing but the" but he's been getting high because he got fired and can't type correctly. On the flip, you're too fucking retarded to interpret context and figure out basic shit. Not sure whose the retard

State law is not corporate policy. Corporate policy will always say no drugs. Don't fucking do drugs if your company does random UAs. Plain and simple.

BECAUSE THE INSURANCE COMPANIES DEMAND A DRUG FREE WORK FORCE.
DRUGS = STUPID MISTAKES THAT INSURANCE COMPANIES DO NOT WANT TO COVER

As much as you fags all think this is the case, it’s truly nothing but desciminative practices.
>>767953618
Hahahaha, you're a fucking idiot and so are most people that try and argue a point about cannabis.
Too many studies aren't controlled properly, people have different effects to the drug. Then we have fucktards like you claiming that with 100% certainty it's fucking up your motor system when you know jackshit and just like to regurgitate non-proven crap.
protip:lots of professional skiiers/snowboarders are blazed as fuck when they hit the slops.

This is a taboo that goes back to English puritanism and anti-irish sentiment. The Puritan movement blamed corruption on society and "corruption of the soul" on self indulgence, literally having fun. Alcohol was a part of that and when Tobacco started to make the north american colonies fiscally viable the original american business owners were protestant and puritan immigrants who "closed ranks" and while apparently jesus was cool with a good christian selling a product that would damn others to hell you couldn't have that shit working for you. No Drunks, No Smokers, No irish.
It's seems silly but the attitude is still ingrained 400+ years later. Employers don't want drunks or stoners for employees and the idea of a 'functional addict' contradicts the narrative that drugs are a moral disease that the human being isn't capable of mastering.

>>767954459
You retards aren't getting the point, which is this, it's too much trouble for a business to accept smokers, when we don't yet have an accurate means of measuring when a person last used. Maybe when there's a cost-effective means of testing whether they've used in the prior 12+ hours, they'll allow it but until then it's a liability not fucking discrimination. This is what happens when faggots have zero patience, if these methods were sought after before legalization, you wouldn't be having these issues but you are.
>>767954816
I'd smoke too bud, I hate how alcohol makes me feel but honestly, employers have every right to fire people. Don't wanna get fired from that place? Don't work there at all.

I've seen people do this and get fired.
also, if the contract he was under stated he would piss clean, then its completely his fault - whether its legal or not.
>>767953900
I can get weed for autism?
>>767951996
Because, gee, idk, THC is psychoactive and makes you lazy
>>767951996
It's like going to work drunk. Alcohol is legal too for 21 and older.
>>767953900
you aren't obligated to hire epileptics or autists either. why do you think these businesses owe you or anyone else anything?

I used to work with this gigantic fat slut with a lot of piercings. We live smack-dab in the bible belt, and we had this landwhale telling us a huge group of us that "I had that really bad STD, but I've only been with two guys, I'm not a slut."
Anyways, the fat cunt came in one evening bragging about smoking a joint before work like an edgy 12 year old. To add insult to injury, she said this within earshot of nurses and higher-ups.
Suddenly, our whole department gets a fucking drug test - every single one of us (imagine how much that cost). Needless to say, they fired her on the spot.
>>767952809
>inactive metabolite from over a month and a half ago in my system after breaking my foot
for weed or for some kinda prescription pain killer? if they fired you for weed, that's kinda understandable, still a shit situation though. if they fired you for prescription drugs, that's illegal and you can sue them.
>>767956201
iirc autism is an immediate qualifier for medical marijuana
Alcohol is also legal but you aren't allowed to come in drunk.
>>767954988
Except there's a precedent for indulgence leading to increasingly worse types of indulgence, if anything alcohol and tobacco should be prime examples of what happens when society bends at the knee over it. It gets to a point where even though it is known to be harmful, people still want it because they're addicted to instant gratification. Prohibition failed because Americans were already alcoholics at the time of it's implementation.
>>767957239
He means weed.

Lol, look at these losers. "CUCK LOL U MAD FAG SMOKE ERRYDAY"
I'm not against weed. I'm actually for it over alcohol. But it's not hard to fucking stay sober at work. Just like not breaking the law. Stay white, my friends.
