There's tons of unrealistic shit, no, not the magic, but just dramatic dumb shit where you can tell it's not a thought out show. + Every episode someone dies to the point where it just becomes stupid as fuck.

I noticed about HBO and Showtime shows that part of their trick to be appealing is to make the less mature viewers feel edgy. Like how younger guys would feel like they were 'in the know' about the mafia because they watch crime dramas, or feel like a fixer insider from watching Ray Donovan, or think they different and special and have Dexter like tendencies they suppress. The shows stroke the viewers ego.
I remember when season 3 of GOT aired I ended up getting the Red Wedding scene spoiled because no one would shut the fuck up about it, and even though it was adults in the workplace, they were acting like watching that show made them big people, like how when a kid gets to watch an R rated movie and thinks he's the shit because of that.

Well, HBO originally was intended to be for adult series' that had some production value. I think after the mainstream success they had with The Sopranos, they just decided fuck it, and to branch off and do whatever for the $ obviously.
I know what you're saying though, I was thinking the same thing in GoT. It's like every fucking death is some Final Destination shit where the guy dies in some ridiculous way instead of the more realistic, sword through chest, dead.
