What knife do you EDC /b/?
Thinking about picking up pic related as a new EDC. Seems like a steal for under $600 burger bux.

Why so expensive? Never considered buying one but I've always wanted to know why they cost a pretty penny

Bro get the Todd begg Bodega steel series. 460.

Who are you talking to? OP? That knife is expensive because it's semi-custom made, and is made out of expensive materials, carbon fiber, titanium and CTS-XHP steel for the blade.
I bet all of you I have the most autistic knife in all this thread.

spyderco clipit endura
bought it in 1996. prolly older than most of you little faggots
>>767850985
that probably is. I can't compete.
Hope you got it for under $15. Perfectly fine car or backup knife to have around somewhere. Just don't rely on that seatbelt cutter. It will not cut shit.
>>767851175
Nice choice. I have become addicted to them. I have.... 6 of them.

So why not go with a good knife instead of an expensive one?
CF is a shitty material for knife handles.
Titanium is useless except for bragging rights - the advantages aren't there for this purpose. Stainless steel would be better.
What exactly would that blade be good for?
Not for cutting - look at the shape of the blade, look at the grind of the edge. Crap.
Not for stabbing. Too weak design - would need more spine material, the tip is formed badly for those purposes too.
And then one feature I always (by experience - mine and others) prioritize: the finger guard/bolster whatever. It is almost non-existent on that design and with no grooving on the handle it's simply put a shit design.
Source: sold and made knives for a long time.
I got a bunch of knives. Newest one is a ZT 0450cf. It's pretty nice.

>So why not go with a good knife instead of an expensive one?
Who says I don't have a bunch? (I do)
>>767851641
>CF is a shitty material for knife handles.
No it's not. It's light, durable and strong.
>>767851641
>Titanium is useless except for bragging rights - the advantages aren't there for this purpose. Stainless steel would be better.
Titanium is lighter and has better corrosion resistance.
>>767851641
>What exactly would that blade be good for?
Cutting.

Not every knife needs one, and this one has one. Step above considering it's not a tactical knife which would require one IMO.
>>767846928
I don't see how any folding pocket knife can be worth $600. Got one of these Leeks for $30. 1660 steel is fine enough for a daily carry knife. Holds an edge just fine for me. First Leek I bought lasted 7 years till I broke it. It was a liner-lock but sturdy despite that. The frame-lock version I have now is even better.
>>767851298
Well yes. I bough it by 16 € or so, and just because I liked how beautifully ridiculous it is, like a gypsy transformer. Surprisingly, cuts quite well, but I suppose it will get dul the second time I use it.
Depends on occasion, but usually two of those:
Böker Magnum Commander BLK
Gerber Remix
Böker Plus DW-2
Sanrenmu 4077
Cobratec bruh
>>767849166
The Leek is nowhere near as pretty, but if you like that blade design you might like the leek.

>>767849313
A well sharped pencil or a ball point pen to the fucking eye socket is enough. I don't need a knife. If I wanna feel edgy I just post here.
>>767852018
Hey I understand liking weird knives - I've had quite a few myself.
But EDC? I don't think a fairbarn sykes is a good EDC even though it's one of the most beautiful knives in existence IMO - sexy lines, clean design, deadly efficient.
CF is a slippery material if wet. Titanium have essentially no advantages for this purpose - weight differences compared with stainless is near zero, corrosion is about the same as stainless. Acid proof steel would be better but nobody uses it - not needed and mich harder to work with.
The cutting edge is too shallow for every day cutting tasks. The tapering on the blade isn't optimal for anything but looks.
No, that's not anything I ever touch. But it's your choice...
>>767849313
A knife is very efficient in trained hands.
careful with "tactical cool" cops and jury react much differently when you have a non-threatening color handle knife that doesnt scream out to kill

My retarded gf spun a scenario yesterday where If someone breaks into the house during the night she will open the bedroom window so I can fire a warning shot out the window. She thinks she has happened upon pure genius because- no broken glass. I explained that the warning shot will be directed at the intruder's center mass, followed by several more.
>>767852805
enduras are nice. i had a delica 4, but i got drunk and gave it away
I have a Manix 2 that is sentimental to me that I had custom scales made for my freshman year of uni. but Spyderco doesn't do blade replacements so i bought a Benchmade 940 but the liners dented and now i have to send it in :/ its nice but fuck m8 Benchmade get ur shit together
>>767852690
A knife is a good tool to own, bro. I've carried a knife since I was 10. I've never even thought of using one for self defense. I've learned less lethal/messy ways of defending myself. I guess if you live in the city, carrying a knife everywhere might seem a bit extreme. The way I see it, there's usually no need for it, but there's no effort in doing it either so why not.
>>767853519
Let's see the blade.
>>767853055
currently have delica plain edge (blue) anytime I pull it out (lol) the office ladies say " aww its blue..cute" sharp as hell though
>>767853166
This.
I'm homeless person and I spend most of my day time out on the streets before I get back to somewhere peaceful where I can make food and enjoy bonfire. I ALWAYS carry knife, and I only think of it as a tool, never as a weapon.
can be a little hard to conceal depending on attire
>>767846928
This silver edged punch knife is my backup weapon for dealing with werewolves. Slashing weapons have trouble penetrating their thick fur and hide, so I train using mostly piercing weapons. The thin silver leaf on the edge needs to be replaced after almost every encounter.

If I'm going fishing, or camping, or anything of that sort, I'll have a knife. If I was doing construction, I'd have a box cutter. If I was exploring the bush, I'd have a machete. There's a time and place for everything, and I don't think it's valid for my lifestyle to have a knife for every-day-carry.
>>767853054
So your GF is smart enough to understand the concept of warning shot and you aren't. Yes that's retarded.

Its pretty cheap and stays sharp so I cant complain too much
That or a Buck Redpoint, but the rubberized grip is starting to rot and idk why
>>767854136
it's never inconvenient to have a knife on you.
i've never been in a situation like "oh fuck man i really wish i didn't have this knife on me it's so bulky and filling up my pockets."
but i have had occasions where i'm like "fuck i really wish i had a knife on me"
>>767854136
Fair. I'm a prep-cook, so knives and the care of knives are a part of me. I think everyone should have one even if they don't foresee a use for it, but that's just me.
Victorinox Huntsman with the Plus scales because the pens useful
I want to carry this Opinel No.6 that I modified so that it the locking ring no longer stays locked if you push the blade down but with the recent knife restrictions in my country I want to go to a station and get it checked out to make sure its 100% legal
>>767853854
Good basic design but what idiotic placement of the slot of the blade! It's like it's designed to break when used.
>>767854414
How good are those for like, 15 dollars?
>>767854284
Those are nice but fucking dangerous. Still have scars.
I have carried a Buck 110 for decades. This is my current one.
>>767854441
I used to deliver newspapers to the airport with my grandfather; I bet they would have freaked in today's society if I had been an every-day-carry guy.
>>767846928
If you spend $600 on a pocket knife I have some swamp land in Florida for a great price.
>>767854711
didn't post that but i have a few of them, damn good for the price a good food prep knife for camping and stuff the carbon blades take a great edge and hold it decently well thin behind the edge so a hell of a slicer
>>767854136
Yeah it's different if you have an actual place to keep the knife. I didn't carry knife when I used to have an apartment. Sometimes cursed it tho, it's super useful for all kinds of little stuff I do.
>>767852217
I don't like the feel of the leek.
The splinter fits in my hand perfectly. I do regret not picking up a Quince Splinter or three when I had the chance l.
>>767854940
Nice man.
>>767854711
Very nice. Easiest knife to sharpen and retains sharpness.Very light. Some guy on Amazon sells them with a shealth for a dollar below what Amazon sells them. Only one issue is the blade is tight sometimes. Just put it somewhere warm for a day or so until it loosens, then just oil the wood slightly to keep it from absorbing moisture. Maybe a touche of graphite too. I put mine on top of my cable box for a few days to dry it out.
>>767852690
I don't think a pencil would have opened the bag of charcoal I'm a b out to use to grill a couple steaks quite as cleanly, if at all.
>>767855298
I don't get the appeal of all the tacticool shit. I figure if a design was carried by my grandpa in WW2 in his pocket to hunt slopes in the Pacific then it must be okay for me to cut boxes and pick mushrooms with.
>>767852803
>trained
Yes. I'm not trained and neither are you or the vast majority of anyone near a knife of any type
>>767854053
looks like the harley davidson skull without the three strips for teeth. if so its not a me so scary add on
>>767854940
My dad always wanted a 110. I got him one when the price dropped to $27. He was so happy. Then he realized how heavy it was. Currently he carries around a Stanley skeleton knife I took from the lost and found at work. If its been in the lost and found over a year, I consider it up for grabs. This is the Stanley but don't get it, they're made in China now and the quality is way below the US made one I got.
>>767855264
That does look like a comfortable handle.
>>767855442
I concur. I have a bunch of knives but my favorites, are my buck, case, and an old timer. I had a kissing crane and sold it. I collect them as well. Kind of a me and dad thing.
pls r8
>>767855580
It's a gentleman's knife to be sure.
Even just the aluminum scaled version screamed classy from within the knife case sitting in a field of black tacticool
>>767853519
