How many people know how to install their own OS? A fraction of the people who use a computer. I actually taught my mother how to do a format and clean install of windows 10 they've made it so easy these days. Now I get not all distro's are as faggy to install as Arch, but generally speaking, people who don't know how to use a computer aren't going to install linux, so that's 99% of users already. The rest don't want the hassle when they know windows is a 30 min install and shit just works out of the box
