I have this big tree at home and lots of these little nuts fall off of it. Are they edible?
I stepped on one and it cracked and it kinda looks like almonds inside.

If the leaves on the tree have lobes AND bristles, like the top leaf, they have more bitter antinutrient tannins in them than acorns with the leaf on the bottom, which have less tannins and are sweeter. You can still eat them, but boil the acorn meat several times first to remove the tannins

Those are oak leaves. Hazel looks different, and the nuts are in open shells which usually stay on the tree.

OP soak open nuts in water like overnite. theres soething that has to be leeched out before u can eat. i suggest boiled and mashed with sugar or dry em out afterwards in the oven with salt.

Depends on the kind of acorn. I tried collecting some from a tree in a park near my home and they're inedible. Even after leaching for a week they were still incredibly bitter and astringent.
I didn't try boiling them though.
