....90% of white men in merican don't know how to operate a manual transmission equipped vehicle? Some even think the 3rd pedal is an emergency brake? WTF lol

Hardly surprising when vehicle manufacturers are doing their best to eliminate manual transmissions as an option over here. Every year, the number of vehicles, even the traditional cheap shitbox cars, are losing the manual option.

Knowing how to operate a manual transmission equipped vehicle is a completely pointless skill for the vast majority of people, so that's not surprising.

im not american
why are they removing it?
whats the reason?
>>
I bought my civic manual just because it's cheaper. Manual transmission FTW!!!

Automatics are more efficient and enviro friendly

Nothing better than pushing the gas pedal and waiting for your dumb fuck auto trans to decide what gear it wants. Owned one, never again.

AFAIK the clutch doesn't have to spool up the fluid to make a connection between the engine and the transmission so there's no wasted engine RPMs, how is that worse for fuel economy?
>>
>>767753778
is that the real reason? nothing else?
this is just me being prejudice, but i wouldn't think Americans did anything to save gas and be more eco friendly

Couple of reasons. First is they all say that the take rate is getting lower and lower each year which means it's no longer financially viable to offer it as an option from a difference in parts and vehicle crash certification standpoint.

Another reason is that modern computer controlled automatics offer practically the same or better gas mileage. (Tied into the engine management computer, the two work better together.) I also hear the claim of emissions thrown around in this same argument.

kinda makes sense, if all repair places only have parts for automatics ect to begin with

i learned something today

With older design 3 speed slush boxes, yes, with the later locking multispeeds the fuel economy is nearly always improved. Take the 2014 Ford Focus, it's the six-speed automatic version that performs better, getting 31 mpg combined (27 city/37 highway). A Ford Focus with a conventional manual transmission can't match the automatics. It gets 30 mpg combined (26 city/36 highway).

Also modern autos are ECU controlled to change at exactly the right engine map point, something a manual driver can't know or will hamfist up. Manuals are more fun to drive though.

This. Part of my commute includes a section of 80km/h road with a downhill and then uphill section and I fucking HATE the gear hunting between 3rd and overdrive my Buick does on that stretch.

With my truck, I just leave it in 4th and let the engine's torque handle things until I'm back on flat ground and can shift into 5th..

Eurofag. Driven manual for 18 years. It sucks. Go automatic if u can.

ITT - triggered little white bois

Agreed. Automatics are far more sophisticated, stick it in D and let the electronics sort it all out.

Canadfag. Drivel manual for 22 years.

The only time it's not so great is driving in heavy, creep, stop & go city traffic. Luckily, I live in a smaller city where that's rarely a thing.

There's an overdrive button somewhere in your car, you can hit it to turn it on and off as a form of manual shifting when you want to drop gears.

Much more comfortable.

>>767754643

Thats most cities now. Stop and start all the time. Stopping on an incline. Roundabouts etc. Automatics a comfy.
>>
>>767753953
The most un-eco friendly countries are all shitskin/non-white dirt holes, India, Pakistan, China etc and saving gas mileage is a sensible thing to do, saves $$$!

That's the old America, when we still kicked ass and took names. This is the new America, overrun with soiboys and SJW cunts

2018 Ford Focus, 3 Cylinder automatic gets 31 MPG while the Manual gets 34, the 4 cylinder automatic gets the same as the manual (28 MPG) unless you get the AM-S6 AT which gets 31 MPG.
Seems there's not much difference anymore, maybe in a few more years the ATs will dominate across the board.
