Help me understand here, bois
>Girl kills herself
>She leaves a bunch of cassette tapes behind
>She makes each tape about 1 person
>It's basically a chain letter, once you listen to the tapes you have to pass them to the next person
>IF YOU DON’T THERE WILL BE CONSEQUENCES (consequences never explained or explored)
>Friend of girl gets the tapes
>Instead of binge listening to them all in one night (like a normal fucking person), he draws it out over several weeks
>Girl’s reasons for killing herself are laughable
>Besides the fact that she experienced a completely preventable rape
>And I do mean completely preventable, since she knew this guy was a rapist
>Went to counselor
>Counselor couldn't do anything because girl refused to say she was raped and name her rapist
That’s not even mentioning the bullshit subplot where the girls parents try and sue the school.
Why tf do people like this show, and why is it getting a second season
>>
>>767582138
I can't answer specific questions because I don't watch that shit, but the reason it's popular and is getting a second season is that most people are idiots.
>>
>>767582138
It’s a shitty teen drama that try’s to be original, also it’s a Netflix original so it’s obvious they’ll advertise and hype the shit out of it

Netflix, LOL.

Sounds about right. Haven’t watched it though. Doubt I will.
>>
>>767582357
god forbid anyone enjoy something you don't.

never watched it myself, because it's for teens and a drama, so I can't answer any questions either, OP.

>implying the history of television isn't rife with long running shows that were insanely popular at the time but are now universally considered the gold standard for worst things ever made

yes.... that's exactly what I was implying you fucking retard.

something about going to a party she knew she shouldn't have? I watched this garbage such a long time ago all I remember was her getting raped in the pool, but it's something along those lines
>>
>>767582138
>Netflix
One more month and you will be gagging at the black cock of your girlfriends boyfriend
>>
>>767584227
It was a hot tub, I think. One of my classes had us watch that garbage show to 'analyze' it. I said fuck that and just read all the episode summaries online. But yeah, she knew that party was sketch af and so was the guy who raped her
>>
>>767582138
What I don't understand, is the main character guy's "reason" pertaining to what he did wrong, was actually him doing something very right.

He walked away when she told him to. Like wtf. I'm surprised the feminists weren't up in arms over this. No, he should have stayed against her wishes. He should have forced himself on her that would have saved her life! Fuck off.
>>
>>767584584
what exactly is your arguement? the rape was preventable and therefore on a lower spectrum to some extent? that would require me to believe that rape is some kind of natural disaster like a wild fire or a hurrican, and not a hostile action taken by a human being. its like saying that its the homeowner's fault for getting robbed because they decided to own nice things, and the robber isnt as bad as some other robbers.

but yeah, the show is trash tho.
>>
>>767583005
thanks for the info, we were all lost without your retarded fucking comment
>>
>>767584698
Mental health specialists have literally said this show is the exact opposite of how teen depression/suicide should be portrayed, in regards to how to cope with the trauma of experiencing a rape
>>
>>767583952
she watched her friend get raped by a guy and then went to that same guy's party and got into the hot tub with him like a retard, then she got raped
>>
>>767585045
2 things. First, abso-fucking-lutely I find it on a lower spectrum. She knew she shouldn't have gone to the party and she knew that something was off with Brayden or Bryce or whatever the fuck stupid name that kid had. Second, if you were a teenage girl who was raped, I'm pretty sure you would at some point tell someone or go to the police, not put together this elaborate bullshit scheme that involved killing yourself and trying to make everyone and their mother feel guilty because it was somehow "their fault".
>>
>>767585045
she knew the guy was a rapist.
would you invite someone you know will rob you to your house?
>>
>>767585045
>its like saying that its the homeowner's fault for getting robbed because they decided to own nice things
Not the same the guy but your logic is fucking retarded. A more apt analogy is to say its the homeowner's fault for getting robbed because they left to door open and bragged to every criminal in town how they had nice things and weren't going to be home.

idk, people act strangely. would this be the first time someone went to great lengths to achieve some kind of emotional impact? and remember, it is a scripted show, so I don't see how her attempt at "revenge" is any more ridiculous than Dexter.

and I'm pretty sure I would not go to the police because a lot of them don't. I mean, even you are all like "lol u should not have gone to the party then" which is something I am also pretty sure a raped teenage girl would fear hearing from the authorities. but more importantly, I just don't see why the rapist gets to benefit from less blame in any situation. I know that the world is a dangerous place, but I will not accept the idea that a hostile and malicious human action should be seen as anything other than a hostile and malicious human action. Again, its like you are treating rapists the same way you would treat a flood or a tornado.
>>
>>767585855
ok, fine. so the criminal deserves less blame? you sound like a nigger, tbh. "lol well he wuz axing fo it"

I am confused, did she invite him? I thought he was just there. also, I saw the scene; she was in the tub with two other people, they got out, then the rapist got in. did I miss something?
>>
It's because it's edgy that's why. Netflix can't cancel it because they'll shit on by sjws. The second season, which isn't even adapted from anything like the first, revolves around a school shooting
>>
>>767585828
It wasn't her party

>I just don't see why the rapist gets to benefit from less blame in any situation.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thirteen_Reasons_Why
>The twelfth person was Bryce Walker. After another party she had attended on another night, Hannah took a walk. Bryce called her to a hot tub at Courtney's house. She knew better than to join them, but she had given up. She removed her clothing and got in the tub wearing only a bra and panties. Bryce began touching Hannah, and Courtney left the hot tub. When she didn't actively resist his attention, he raped her.
>She knew better than to join them, but she had given up.
>She knew better than to join them
>She knew better
Hmm...
>When she didn't actively resist his attention, he raped her.
>she didn't actively resist his attention
>she didn't actively resist
