Why does McDonalds taste so shit in the U.S compared to in Europe?
Don't get me wrong, it's still no gourmet dinner in Europe but at least it's very much edible compared to the McDonad's I've tried in the U.S
At least here in Scandinavia we have much stricter rules about food, especially fast foods.
Everything is made of higher quality ingredients.

It's mostly fuel taxes that are responsible for higher costs in Europe. The buying power of your currency is so low compared to its value.

Most ingredients for McDonald's here in Sweden is made locally for example together. Which means higher costs because our farms and such is top notch, but less fuel needed since transportation is cut a lot.
I mean... that could be the reason, as I live in Sweden as well, but when it comes to proper cut meat even the cheapest beef I've tried in the U.S tastes tons better than any meat I've had in Sweden.

I’m not privy to McDonalds recipe or supplier data for every EU country, but I’d guess they slightly adjust it for each individual market. So obviously you would prefer the McDonalds food of your home country.

US beef is factory farmed, particularly the McDonald's shit. Also American food is loaded with a lot of preservatives that Euro food doesn't typically have... but it's also why there's such a price difference. A small value meal at McD's of a McDouble and fries or two McDoubles in the US is gonna be about 3 dollars. In Europe, you're looking at paying the equivalent of about 10 American dollars for the same thing. But that's really a substantial difference between the US and Europe with regards to *all* food, they have far more natural, cleaner, food with regards to hormones, antibiotics, genetic engineering, and preservatives... but it costs substantially more.
I also found it interesting that when I was in Europe, McD's seemed like the happening hangout place for the cool teenage kids. There was a certain "style" to it, a certain prestige that we don't have here. Here, everyone goes to McD's sometimes, but if you ever go in it's generally the trashiest niggers/rednecks that you'll ever see. And inevitably, there's usually always a nigger family there with a morbidly obese mother chowing down on her big mac while her 6 unruly children run around the restaurant screaming.
It depends on where you are.
If you're in the north east it's going to be seafoods, like clam chowder and lobster. If you're in the south it's going to be barbecue, and depending on where in the south you are it's going to be different types of barbecue.
If you're in middle America it's going to be classic American foods, Turkey, mashed potatoes, corn bread, stuffing etc etc.
In the Southwest it's going to south western foods, lots of Hispanic influence.
Up on the North it's going to be more traditional germanic things, lots of cheese.
What europeens don't understand is that the US isn't LA.
McDonald's has the best thing working for them in one word: location. You can throw a rock and hit a McD's. Their branding is also the most recognized, so people who grew up with saturday morning cartoons are almost brainwashed into trusting them, even as McDonald's product declines. In 40 years, this may not be the case.

Europe (esp. France) have very strict regulations about the control of quality of food. McDonald’s especially has been on the radar for a while since it was massively critiqued in the beginning for its poor quality of food. After years and years of forcing the McDonald’s meme and submitting to each regulation, it became somewhat edible. This is the fate of most fast food chains except semi clandestine kebabs (60+% of them are getting sued, attacked regularly for having rat shit, expired, recongelated meat, actual traces of human sperm and human feces (they don’t wash their hands, the sandniggers doing this) in the food they serve. But most of them are in the shittiest parts of any town. There are actual rats walking on the meat and their other supplies kek.
No, I know the field that 90% of the beef for my local McDonalds comes from. It isn't a "Factory farm". I know the guy who owns the field. I drive by the cows I'm going to eat all the time.

Dough and sauce is mass produced most of the time. Only a few places make their own. And yes, in those cases you see them make it.
I don't know where in Australia you live, but last time I had Maccas there was in the one right across the street from Flinder's Station in Melbourne. This was last summer, from what I understand that place isn't there any more. The bread tasted like it had been sitting there for about a week, and the meat was extremely tough. I can at least say US McD's tastes somewhat fresh. Still shit though.
Not to mention, I'm not fucking paying out the ass for a goddamn burger in the US compared to how goddamn expensive it is in Aus.

I stopped going to McDonalds. I hate that nothing is fresh made. Off the grill. It is made then put in a warming drawer. If I unwrap it the second they hand me my bag and take a bite its cold. When I eat at home food is taken from the stove placed in bowls and served. You have to let it cool down to eat it. If I wanted to eat cold food I would live on cold cuts from the fridge. I only eat carry out food that made fresh and is hot when you receive it. I wont mention the names of these places. Advertising is a ban offense isn't it? For the shot version just say no to crap eat out food. That is why as an individual you are given choices.

In every nation, the McD's menu varies a bit to cultural taste. In a lot of Asia, rice is served as the standard side rather than fries. Also, spam-burgers are usually on the menu in SE Asia (SE Asians love their Spam).
I found it really strange when I was in Europe, that NO McD's had the breakfast menu.... In my opinion, the breakfast menu is the only *good* food McDonald's makes.
