If you’re doing workloads and using amd I feel sorry for you, why do you think amd is going to benefit you?

better multicore performance and cost

for instance, intel chips play a game very well but struggle streaming a game
>>
>>767534129
On a spec sheet or test yeah but in real life test fields it doesn’t. There’s a few solid videos showing that intels 6 cores are more optimized for a lot of programs compared to amds 8 cores, and it beats amd.
I’m not trying to sound like a fanboy here, I’m just trying to let you know that for $2500 you could get a better intel system.

Also don’t spend your money on those peripherals, you can buy way better ones. Like the Logitech g502 is one of the best mice, and that sound system isn’t as good as the other z systems.
>>
>>767533707
Personaly I'd recommend saving your money and changing the mobo and CPU to an Intel chipset 3.7ghz? Not bad, not bad at all. Less headaches. Asus has Intel compatible Strix mobos as well.

is the g502 that much better?

also im goin shitty on the speakers 4 now, cant be too loud in my apartment, gunna do home theater down the road after i do my comp.

so far what ive seen the 2700x is pretty up there, the performance difference looked less than noticable. u suggesting i go for an i8700k or something?

>>
>>767534706
8th gen is definitely the way to go if you’re wanting to spend thousands. I’d suggest to hold off on any sound system if you can until you get that home theater. Those speaker sets are decent but nothing that a sound bar couldn’t do.
The g502 is definitely worth it, with all the customization you can do it helps from everything like gaming to working in photoshop, I had a few Logitech mice and I can say the 502 has been the best.
If you can get it for like $40-50 it’s worth it!

Build is fine. Peripherals are personal preference. Enthoo is a big case. I bought it, its nice, but very big.

Poor quality photo sorry.

Whatever case you go with just keep in mind if there are any front USB ports or audio jacks. Think about where you will put your PC on your desk if you have one.

Read reviews. Annnnd make sure it'll hold all of your components.
>>
>>767535028
i wanted a big case with good airflow. also tempered glass on a hinge was a big factor
it was this or the TT view 71
>>
>>767533725
>>767533707
Good parts, pretty expensive though when you consider what you are getting. You could easily shave off a grand from the price. I admit, i'm a big nose jew.
You don't need to get a 300 dollar cooler for the 2700x. There's very little overclocking headroom in these X chips. 100-150 will get you there just fine.
Otherwise I can't really say much, you could run it with a lower power PSU but it's like 10 dollars savings. Obviously you are going for the looks so the RGB stuff adds a lot of costs
>>
>>767535065
Oh yeah I do enjoy trying to watch that 15 fps gameplay stream from someone's 8600k build
>>
>>767535292
well the cooler is 140, its a cpu and separate gpu cooler bundled. but id rather have it like this than a massive heatsink bulging out and bumping my ram
>>
>>767533707
I would highly suggest getting a NVME SSD. They make a big difference, even against a SATA SSD. if you are spending this much on a PC you should get the best parts.
>>
>>767535375
Ah i see, so you are going aftermarket cooler all the way?
I see the looks are a real concern for you, i'd rather just go full cheapo, but it's your choice really. I wouldn't even bother with the gpu cooler myself.
>>
>>767535461
ive already had a long agument that i backed down on about this on /g/. guy convinced me otherwise since id be paying double for the same storage. sure the drive r/w faster but boot times would be marginally better and game loading screens are heavily lagged by the games programming. the most use i would get out of it would be unzipping the occasional .rar file
>>
>He fell for the Ryzen meme

You could've saved $100 and got an i5-8600k that'd given you better performance with less cores. It's not a horrible CPU but it's overpriced for what it offers.
>>
>>767535506
can a 1080ti get to 120 Hz @ 1440p so easily?

also consider the state of GPUs atm the founders ed + the cooler is still cheaper than EVERY other 1080ti out there.

but yes its also heavily on aesthetics, never had a pc like this and i want it to be shiny
>>
>$300 for 32gbs of ram and it's not even 3200
Please let someone else build for you next time.
>>
>>767535660
you can barely do any CAD with 16 gb. thats why i went 32

also ram speed doesnt make much difference after 2933
>>
>>767535561
You previously said that you weren't doing strict gaming on it. If it's for gaming I agree, it doesn't make much difference, but if we are talking workstation tasks then it makes a huge difference, especially when opening heavy programs (Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, AutoCAD) and while loading/scrolling projects.
>>
>>767535626
Ah, that's not the case in my country right now. If you are willing to tinker with the gpu, then it makes perfect sense.
>>767535660
You'd pay close to 400 eur in my country for that memory
>>
>>767535828
my COMSOL project have never taken that long to load for me, its always just been running the simulation thats taxing so i thought good multicore and lots of ram
>>
>>767535828
Really we are talking about seconds here. It's not like jumping from an HDD to SSD where the difference could be tens of seconds easily.
Next problem is the price. High capacity NVMEs are pretty costly, and you normally have one slot so you have to ditch the old one if you end up upgrading.
>>
>>767533788
>>767533922
Ignore the Intel shills. Same with AMD.

As for your build. Personally, it seems excessively pricey for what you are getting, but that is just my opinion. I am on >>767535292 side, but it kind of depends on your expect workload and how future proof you are planning. Also your level of income. Although I said it was pricey, I would change your SSD for a different brand. Crucial and Patriot are some of mediocre brands, and they are not bad; however, depending on what you are going to have on there, I would recommend something like Samsung or something. Also, avoid all PNY parts. Also, I would recommend you hold off on buying a GTX 1080 Ti for a few more months when they properly restock it and mining sort of plateaus for a bit. Also, cosmetically, I don't like it. You got a black motherboard with white RAM, and your case looks so lack luster for the price of your set up. I would recommend you look for another case, and see if you can get the RAM in black.
>>
>>767535917
It's never "that much time". I mean, I have various PC with only hard disk on them, they are significantly slower, but nothing I can't stand, i just know the timing and do something else while they load. To answer to both you and >>767535999 yeah, in load times it's question of seconds, but when we are talking about a 2500+$ PC it seems a good idea, at least to me, to get the best parts, especially if we are talking about of "just" 100$ more, less than 5% of the total price. And, I would prefer to save money buying normal fans and not RGB that doesn't do anything and invest it in a better, faster SSD, but that's me.
>>
>>767536069

>change your SSD for a different brand

ill look into that thanks

>Also, I would recommend you hold off on buying a GTX 1080 Ti for a few more months when they properly restock it and mining sort of plateaus for a bit

definately already the plan. this builds my outline so far, i probably wont purchase it until late summer early fall. might even wait for the 1180 and 2800x to come out

> black motherboard with white RAM

its a placeholder, pcpartpicker doesnt have the black ones

>case looks so lack luster for the price of your set up

replacing the fans in the front and am gunna have the glass facing forward. mostly was looking for a case with a hinged tempered glass door
>>
>>767536315

im running out of places to trim down price for better parts, so if you can show me something better please. i feel like ive allocated about $200 in excess for rgb.

ram prices are ridiculous right now and so are video cards, that alone is eating 1100-1200 of my budget easily also consider that peripherals are taking up like 250.

but like i said if you can show me a better build im all ears

Considering your build you could afford to throw some more money into a high end intell chip/board or a thread ripper build. That's is if you wanted a multi use computer.
>>
>>767536558
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4pfz7W
Here it is. I didn't chose any fancy parts, no color matching or things like that. Some things depend on your needs, like the case or the motherboard (maybe for the I/O), so you might not like some parts.
>>
>>767537067
$300chip -> $1000chip
no

also thread ripper has lower core clocks, trying to find a medium
>>
>>767537414
appreciate the effort but

same processor

not even bronze 600W psu on 578W system (not overclocked)

i like the case

has a nvme drive, cool

2400MHz ram and using all 4 slots (probably wont fit due to the heatsink and was looking to expand to 64gb in future)

none of the peripherals except the mouse

its a pc for about the same price and half the parts are less quality :/
>>
>>767533707
Why not go with a SLI compatible motherboard?
>>
Your just paying for brand name if you think gpus differ in quality. Just core clock varies. Quality is the same. But if your building a rig long hall id just save up and buy whats pleasing to your own eyes. Plus buy on black friday. I regret not getting my stuff last one.
>>
>>767537783
Half the quality? Are you joking? CPU is the same bacuse you chose it, so i assumed that was the best for your use case scenario; RAM speed isn't indicative of the quality, also, faster ram has little to no advantage in real life, also if you need 64 GB of RAM, probably that CPU isn't enough, so that won't be the problem. All Noctua fan and cooler (clearance won't be a problem, fan can be raised), Noctua is one of the highest, if not the highest, quality brand of fan/heatsink. On the PSU you are right, it's not the best for that system, this one (Thermaltake PS-SPR-0750FPCBUS-R) is better, add another 30 bucks. For the peripherals, they aren't part of the PC build, and I shouldn't chose them, since those are more or less equivalent and you should chose the ones that you like most.

Would consider a 1000W PSU for going Dual GPU and maybe color matching the ram for muh aesthetics. But dual GPU is dead any way.
It's a fine build. 5/10
>>
>>767538394

>CPU is the same bacuse you chose it
that wasnt a complaint
> faster ram has little to no advantage in real life
i agree but thats the case after 2933 before that theres notibile improvment

>clearance won't be a problem, fan can be raised

good to know, thank you

>For the peripherals, they aren't part of the PC build, and I shouldn't chose them

fair enough, but if the same were included as i got the pc would be the same price

so no money was saved and i got an nvme drive for worse ram and less aethstetically pleasing build

and im willing to wait the extra few seconds when it comes to booting/ loading a CAD file

sorry to say half the quality, that was uncalled for. but its certainly not cheaper and i think were just prioritizing a bit differently.
>>
>>767538401
lol thank you
>>
>>767539012
Well, I prefer a dull looking PC but with better parts than a flashy PC that has worse parts, but everyone has their priorities. Also, I never said that there would be cheaper alternatives, just that tweaking here and there you could squeeze in a NVME SSD for the same price. Also, if you have workloads so heavy that really need 64 GB of RAM, you should buy a Threadripper or an i9 not a standard Ryzen/i7 CPU.
>>
>>767539455

you made room for an nvme drive, its not that critical over a normal ssd

>if you have workloads so heavy that really need 64 GB of RAM, you should buy a Threadripper or an i9 not a standard Ryzen/i7 CPU.

if only i9s werent 1000 and threadrippers 500-1000

its not for work anyway, more of a hobby.
