Hey /b/

So I havent bought computer speakers for like 15 years. I'm looking to build a system for the first time and I wanted to snag some "decent" speakers. My last set that I bought long ago was the logitech X-530's, got them for like 80 bucks and they werent the best, but damn if they didnt do a decent job at the least.

So I look round for some speakers and the very same set is now at 350 FUCKING DOLLARS ?!?!?! WTF HAPPENED?

Its not just these speakers either... like wow wtf a $400 back in the day is now $1400?!

I finally said fuckit to computer speakers and got myself a receiver + speaker setup. Lots more flexible, much better sound. Do yourself the favor.
>>
>>767521993
honestly thats probably the best sounding adivice i could hear. theres high quality audio for way less than what these computer speakers cost
>>

If you ar egonna buy Logitech, buy either Z623 or Z906. I've been through tonnes of logitech and other pc speakers and "real" hifi speaker systems with various towers, amps and receivers. "low budget" logitechs sounds hollow and week. But The CV speakers i suggested (>>767521021
) sounds realy good for the size and price
>>
>>767522785
think im gunna go with >>767521993 on this and say fuck it to comp speakers when a genuine home theatre system might be in a similar same range
>>
>>767522279
Even what you spend ends up being way more flexible. My system is for gaming and general media center so I went higher end, but you can easily spend way less than you would for those Ai1 package deals and the sound is so much better. As a bonus it is easier to upgrade a single part of it later down the line (more speakers, bigger bass, etc).

They have an internal amp btw, if you didnt know. So no amp needed.

REgarding the traditional hifi setup... Getting a decent setup for 100-200 dollars might be tricky. I dont live in the states so i dont know the prices or the market, bur gl!
>>
>>767523148
how did you impliment this, did you need a specific sound card to get signals to your reciever? dont tell me your systems just plugged into a headphone jack
>>
>>767523390
Nah, optical out. Mobo has a decent onboard (I wanna say Creative) chip. I think it has multi channel out as well, but since I'm using the receiver (Denon) I don't need the comp to amp and I like the simple single line. Plus my headphones connect via optical as well so it's a real simple daisy chain setup.
>>
>>767519616
It's okay. My monitors were $2k per speaker
>>
>>767519616
Fuck you and you're shitty computer speakers. Buy whatever trash you want, because they'll always sound like dog shit.

you have a good day too friend :)
>>
>>767524205
No, it's the big socket in the middle of the board that you plug it into.
>>
>>767524205
Yup, exactly. And all the small 'circle' jacks around it are the multi channels. You can use either one or the other, really, but the channel jacks will probably be a pita to find the right cables for. Most standalone receivers don't use that kind of input arrangement. The optical is easy and it's just a single line.

thanks a lot man seriously, any recievers youd recommend?
