why do people complain about not being able to pay off their student loans? if you get a loan for 40k, then get a 60k job with your degree you can pay it back in less than a year
> implying you can live a comfortable life on just 20K a year
But yea I agree, if you work and grind during the university period and get experience while getting the degree, should be easy to get a job and put 10-20K a year towards the debt, within 2-4 years the debt (which is manageable) will be gone.
The people who say this are usually art students (lul) or people who can't control their spending
that still leaves you with 40k, still pay it off in a year
ok but you're not supposed to live comfortably until you pay off your debt, you can live very comfortably on 30k, giving you just a year and a half to pay it all off
if you're an art graduate you can get an art job
No, because you have to live on that money and move out of cheap housing with roommates to start life as an adult, the whole point of getting the degree. You pay it off over several years along with mortgage and car payment.
Interest rates too.
Honestly people are stupid thinking they can take out a Sally May loan then turn around and tell Uncle Same fuck off, by bankrupting said loan.
Fed Student Loans are not bankrupt-able. So people fuck up their credit not knowing
Then it goes into collection so that 40k loan turns in 80k with lie 28-32% APR Annual Percentage Rate (interest).
22k a year in interest alone.
> if you're an art graduate you can get an art job
> art job
Regardless I agree it's a small investment in the big picture. Just saying not everyone can put 40K away easily, 20K might just get you by on groceries, rent and transportation in some places
If you aren't impacting the principle either you are fucked, because then you are paying interest on your interest.
People fail to realize is that Uncle Sam will take out everything from your social security, and other federal aid
>have crippling student loan
>take out mortgage
>use line of credit opened for mortgage to pay off student loan
>go bankrupt on mortgage
Am I a genius? Did I solve the student loan crisis?
if you make 60k, rent and food will only be 30k and taxes 10, leaving you with 20k to pay it all off in 2 years
there is no jamaican underwater basket weaving degrees, there's history, which has a lot of jobs
so then the only reason you wouldn't pay off your debt is because you don't want to? because you don't want to live with a roommate or in cheap housing for 2 years?
that sounds pretty retarded if you ask me
why wouldn't you be able to take out a loan and repay it?
even if that 40k loan turns into 60k if you live with your parents you can pay it off in a year and a half
and why take out a mortgage or car payment if you already have debt? just pay it off in a year or 2 before
why doesn't a degree get you a job in your field? you have education and qualification in that field, which means you get the job
yes, if you are an art graduate you get an art job, and that art job pays you money, which you use to pay off your debt
Student loan crisis starts at the price colleges (unis) charge. They raise tuition rates willy nilly every year or so. The Fed Gov't FAFSA will subsidize (give you more money) these tuition increases.
Who does this fuck? The people who are what we call "middle-class." People who have assets and good careers who save every penny for their children to go to school, because FAFSA says you're not poor enough to be eligible for aid, even though they totally disregard circumstances of individuals (death, medical care, etc. [These events can cripple a families whole financial wealth]).
FASFA just looks at income.
So once you're dirt poor you can get aid. Otherwise you're fucked and taking loans out for the same education.
>They raise tuition rates willy nilly every year or so
Could that be because of declining state support?
>assets and good careers
Good. They deserve to be fucked in the ass until they bleed for thinking they're better than the poor.
You can repay it, but it takes a lot of time and money, and with interest being the way it is, it takes a lot of time.
Point being it really shouldn't be like that. I don't believe for a free education, but I believe that it shouldn't be s expensive as it is and as a tool to buffer out rich and poor.
That was an actual compliment so you sound dumb for mistaking tone.
Decline of state support lol, how? When they charge foreign students 3-4x the tuition rate and foreign students make up roughly half the students in uni. No they got enough money.
And wrong, whats wrong with working hard and trying to transfer wealth to your future generations
>Why not, it's how the rich get rich after all
why not less than a year? can you exPlain what you mean?
if you take out a loan you get a degree, if you get a degree you get a high paying job, with that high paying job you pay off the loan you got with your degree
if your loan is 40k and you make 60k you can pay it off in less than a year if you live with your parents, 2 years or so if you live with 30k and pay taxes (10-14k)
why does it take a lot of time? if you make 60k, loan is 40k, and just live with your parents you pay it off in less than a year
can you explain why not all jobs are open? some data?
which entry level jobs require 2 years experience and a reference if they're entry level? any data on that?
You're disregarding the "time value of money" Interest rates and inflation to the cost of living.
One thing you are totally right on is live with your parents and build wealth there then leave the nest when you have some current assets (cash).
If you make 60k a year it isn’t possible to pay off a 40k loan in a one year period. Your initial statement is invalid and people doing well tend to spend within their means. Nobody making 60k a year really worries about student loans outside of crazy cost of living places. The people you are poking at are the poor and that’s just pathetic.
The issue is autists go to school out of state/go to private schools so they end up taking out a 40k loan PER SEMESTER.
Their debt goes into the hundred thousands, can sometimes be almost half a million.
And yes I said autists for a reason. If you're going to school out of state or going to a private University without a scholarship or whatever you're fucking retarded and should go jump off a building.
what time value of money interest rates and inflation to cost of living? everything scales in an economy
most jobs are less than 20k, if you get a job for 60k and live with 30k, 10k for taxes, only takes 2 years, if you live with your parents like i said, less than a year
if you don't live with your parents then it just takes like 2 more years
why is it invalid can you explain further other than just claiming it's invalid? you haven't actually said anything, you do realize that right?
and yes that's right because once you get your education you get your job an you pay off your debt which is what the education is for
if you go to an expensive private school then you get a job that matches up to that level since you have a private level education which is better than any other public education, simple
>can you explain why not all jobs are open? some data?
Because there are certain amount of positions companies are willing to pay for and that number is lower than the number of people getting degrees for those purposes.
Why does this need to be explained to you?
What about him, there are multiple issues. To be honest the presidency is bullshit. Everyone who sat in that seat after WW2 has been a crook (exception LBJ [argue for Kennedy])
>everything scales in an economy
Economy of Scales 0/10 troll try harder
Scientific method, if the hypothesis is wrong, it’s wrong and you write a better one. You can’t do what OP says without some serious constraints that make the argument invalid. You can’t pay off a 40k loan in less than one year making 60k a year. And if you could and had half a brain you wouldn’t.
This is an autie board, not a popular high school kid board.
Five recent years under a supposed "socialist" president, presented for your consideration.
Because it's a meme for cucks.
>transfer wealth to your future generations
They didn't work hard for it.
It's funny because I'm currently attending one of those universities and I'm getting the most financial aid possible. It's not quite 40k a quarter.
Define criminal? Like drug dealing bust caps? Runs the streetz with him homies drinkin' 40's and smoking blunts? Probably not.
My only beef is he has clear conflict of interests. Being one of the biggest capitalists whole being the biggest philanthropist (president).
Not everyone gets grants and shit, most unis are competitive for good grants, not everyone is the cream of the crop especially when the pressures of life (kid, family to support, health, etc.) So good for you, but not everyone can be.
>Not everyone gets grants and shit
I got these grants because I'm an independent and have no job. Literally anyone can get these grants. I had to wait until I was 26 mind you, to be considered independent, so before then I got an associates degree at a community college.
That's the problem, his job as president is to be giving help to the masses. Albeit America is looking ok, but it is just another bubble that is going to pop. Yea more jobs, less careers.
Joke's on you, it came from The Atlantic.com.
How dare you dispute the holy writ revealed by private corporations!
>actually thinking presidents are philanthropists
>being this fucking retarded in 2018
W L A D
When I was 18 and out of highschool I was self employed and doing pretty much nothing with my life. I went to community college at 20. I took it slow and got all my general ed done so I could transfer to a university easily. I graduated from highschool with a 2.5 GPA so it's not like I had many options before that anyway. I'm currently a senior. School is taking longer than I anticipated, I've had some severe medical issues since about a week after I was accepted to UCLA.
Sounds like you've got some household income. I did too, though my parents weren't willing to share a dime of it.
what is it going to be like? can you explain? why does it matter if i have or haven't paid them off?
which number? can you show me
>Why does this need to be explained to you?
because you're not saying anything other than it's invalid and saying that there is a number which states that *certain* positions have a lower number of positions which are high paid than the number of people with qualifications for those positions
yes, as inflation rises so do prices, and salaries, it is basic economics
which scientific method? how does this apply to what we're talking about?
60k a year is 5,000 a month, or 40,000 every 8 months, a year is 12 months, 8 months is 4 months less than a year, which means that you could pay off 40 thousand in 8 months
why not? can you give me some evidence and the source of said evidence which would support your claims?
Damn some of y'all are so stupid it hurts. Be me, 22, graduating from the best business school, total student loan debt at $40,000, salary commencing in mid-June will be $85,000/yr + target bonus of 80-100% salary. Try harder
Taxes are theft and can therefore be ignored. :^)
Your life is disgusting and you are literally nothing more than an obstacle to humanity. Enjoy your gibbet, tryhard
To be fair millennials were sold the boomer idea that a degree is an “insurance policy” and a gauranteed good job. It’s an outdated notion that will soon correct itself. My grandmother and parents told me the same thing. Right now there’s massive degree inflation. Schools need to stop pushing college on every average bear student.
I got lucky and make ~ 70-80000 as a gas appliance tech.
yes, google it and show me what you're talking about and explain why it shows you can't pay off student loans, because you haven't actually said anything
yes you live with your parents, you only get taxed between 10-$13,000 if you make 60,000, leaving you with 45-50,000, 5-10,000 more than the loan
if you don't live with your parents, you pay 30k for living, 10k in taxes, giving you 2 years to pay off your debt
yes because you need a degree to get a professional job, simple
>What are taxes?
Well there goes a significant portion of that 60k
>What is interest?
>What are fixed costs
Rent, car payment, gas, water, electricity, food, clothing (for this high paying job that likely has a business casual dress code
>What are variable costs?
Medical expenses, unforseen accidents such as a car crash, family emergency
It is not so simple. Rent should be approximately 20% of your gross income alone. If it isn't, you're likely going to be farther from your 60k job, which means more money and time spent on commute. Not to mention the fact that not everyone immediately lands a 60k job at graduation. All in all you seem to have very little life experience, which tells me you probably haven't graduated highschool, much less college. I doubt you've even been responsible for your own finances yet.
This. There are many other useful endeavors on which to expend one's labor and time. However, college as ultimate goal is part of the doctrine of aspiration that Americans seem to profess as faith. There is very definitely a reproduction of class and class interest going on here.
Why? I make a decent $40k a year doing software development when I damned well feel like it, and do other stuff when I feel like it. You, on the other hand, are a submissive cuck to hierarchy, and worse, you are a salescuck for hierarchy.
You still haven't addressed how much better the world will be without you than with you, cookie pie.
>for this high paying job that likely has a business casual dress code
I have heard from more than one source that, in yet higher-end jobs, people are informally denigrated for not consuming to the (((lifestyle))) standards of their class.
Don’t put some subjective onus on me, what do YOU think you’re contributing that is so valuable? I don’t give a fuck if the world is a better place because of me or not. I simply enjoy financial security, being able to afford things my parents never could as immigrants, traveling and working with other ambitious and successful people.
Ok, some bullshit freelance code is surely a worldwide gamechanger right? I would concede maybe if he worked at a leading tech firm with a prudent mission but no he doesn't.
And if you still think he's cleared the bar, then aren't the billions of $ in transactions that I would advise on also be documented for generations? dipshit
>implying that a need to control others isn't pathological
The gulags will have mental facilities for just your sort, freeloader.
>inb4 muh earned it
WE decide that, bitch tits, not you.
Lmao alright guy, well I built a picnic table for a senior citizens home in high school and planted the fucking trees at volunteer events. Eventually those will die or no longer be used, and surely so will some thousands of lines of small-time code
And this, I dont know if you even know what youre saying
I know exactly what I'm saying, and aside from the good deeds you did in order to get into a nice bourgeois university, your value NOW is nothing more than a social construct whose credibility grows more brittle with every month. What have you done for me, lately?
When did I imply I have a need to control others? And I'll revert back to my original point echoed by >>767502698 i worked my ass off studying to make boatloads of money and now i plan on enjoying it for as long as i can. and you **sure as shit** will not stop me
There's a difference between subsidized and non-subsidized loans. Subsidized loans (Federal student aid) can exceed tuition costs, but must be used for cost of attendance which includes books, supplies, food, and rent. Non-subsidized loans (personal student loan from a profit organization) can be used on whatever the fuck you want.
I’ve had a chick bang me with a dildo. Two guys have seriously hit on me, one crawled into my bed when I was alseap and dared to put his hands on me, he never came back to the house again.
I like tits. A dong is easily replicated
>implying that you're worth a shit because of what you have done rather than what you are doing
Literally nobody cares how you masturbate. You do you until Pic related.
