We used to make this in dry camps all the time:
You get yourself some apple juice, and you put it next to a window for a couple of days. Do a couple of glasses. When they start to smell “off” they’re ready. Throw out any that have mild growing on them unless you have Thor’s mighty constitution.
If you’re looking for something a little stronger, you get yourself some bread yeast (whatever’s on sale) and a 2 litre of pop (doesn’t work with colas, but i’ve Had some luck with Mountain Dew and Orange Crush) and a latex balloon.
Open the pop, and let it go flat on the counter overnight. Put the cap back on in the morning, and shake it to remove all excess carbonation. Pour in the yeast (I used to use two tablespoons, but it gets a little volatile) and stretch a balloon over the the balloon of the bottle. Now, poke a hole in the top of the to allow excess co2 to escape. Allow to sit for a month or so, or until it stops bubbling. then siphon off all the liquid, leaving the yeast sludge at the bottom untouched. Drink your new horridness until you no longer feel feelings. Make a bunch, stagger the batches, and you can have a new bottle of homemade hooch every day.
