The key point is not about being low on evidence, but still believing because "it might be possible". The quality of the evidence should be assessed (things heard versus analysis which method is known and checked). If something has reasonably not enough evidence, and phenomena can actually be explained and predicted by a stronger theory, then it is no use. I'm far more interested in the phenomenon of interfaith coalescence between different denominations of Christianity. Just a generation agao, there was significant infighting in greater Christendom.
