How the fuck is fear of heights considered irrational?
It's not like I'm afraid of water or other harmless shit.
>>
I dunno. Why is fear of bugs considered rational?
And why is anything other than vanilla (including oral or anal) not considered a fetish?
>>
>>767355416
You're right. Water has never killed anyone.

Never understood how there can be adults that never learned to swim. They are retards, what more can I say.
>>
>>767355690
there's a huge difference between swimming in a pool and in the sea
>>
>>767355416
Fear of heights, snakes, and spiders is often a response that’s hardwired in our DNA
>>
When people say they're scared of x or they're scared of y, that doesn't generally mean a literal fear of those things specifically. It actually tends to mean a fear of the CONSEQUENCE of those things. What you'd call a fear of heights is more often than not a fear of FALLING and a fear of water is typically a fear of DROWNING.
>>
>>767355690
It depends on the education.
I've learned swimming in 1st and 2nd grade because that was obligatory in my elementary school but I never really needed this skill. Loved swimming literally for hours in the pool on holidays, now I don't give a fuck about that anymore.

I'm absolutely terrified of heights. Racing heart, sweaty hands, vertigo, etc. Worst day of my life was spent standing 5 stories up on a small ledge installing ductwork for air conditioning.

Yet, I have none of those issues when I'm flying airplanes. I think it's 'cause I have no reference to gauge how far I'd fall.
>>
>>767357191
Don't airplanes have altimeters?
>>
>>767357349
Not an issue.
But when I can count floors, or bricks, and see how far I'll fall it gets very stressful and disorienting.
>>
>>767355416
Holy fuck, I feel that shit
>>
Fear of legitimate problems is an evolutionary survival method.
Hence why dumb fucks do things like look down barrels of loaded guns.
>>
>>767355416
fear itself will make you fall.
if you are unsure in your own safety, you will panic
>>
>>767357679
I am exactly the same. Even when its a moderate height, anything more than 6 foot up a ladder and I feel unsteady and nauseous. Hence why I quit my last job in a fabric factory

>>

she grew up with no father or a distant one and doesn't feel any need to preserve her own life, she also has impulsive behavior and a drive for instant gratification through stunt devil like acts so that she can achieve mental homeostasis where most people are comfortable with normal levels of excitement

she probably gets blacked all the time she's the girl that is dancing on the bar at a club and blowing dudes or something. unstable.

Yeah. That stuff just doesn't bother me. I'd climb that thing no problem. Meanwhile, I would never be able to swim in the ocean at night.

would you climb that thing in the ocean at night ?

so you fear being up high?
i get fear of landing.
not even falling but the fear of hitting the high speed ground.
google :EL CAMINITO DEL REY | SPAIN

Meh.. I climb towers for a living. The higher you are the longer you have to think about how you fucked up before you hit the ground.
And the larger splat you make.

How the fuck is fear of niggers considered irrational?
It's not like I'm afraid of white people or other harmless shit.
>>
>>767356699
or maybe a fear of getting eaten or attacked by the many dangerous things that are difficult to see underwater
>>
I'm afraid of large crowds.

It's sort of like claustrophobia, but I don't feel claustrophobic in tight spaces when there aren't any people around. But put in in a large crowd of people and I start panicking and I have difficulty breathing. It scares the shit out of me.
>>
>>767356991
thats depression setting in homie
>>
>>767361026
i thought i could climb tall shit with no issue, with less stress with a nice ladder or something

i went to a mountain with all the radio towers on it in my local area, theres one thats been turned off people climb. nice ladder up then pins.. i made it past the tree tops and started it freak a bit. went up a bit more , but my mate wet up quickly.

just saying dont say u can climb it till youve climbed it

Brains, weirdly, have built in self defence mechanisms. Sometimes, there are many ways to trigger such a mechanism. Some people conciously make the logical leap from heights to high risk situation by considering the possibility of falling, which logically would lead to injury or death.
Some people suppress these logical leaps to risk consideration by focusing (conciously or not) on their confidence in their own control over the situation and its possible outcomes.
Some people are unable to consider the situation logically or confidently, because some hardcoded brain wiring is forcing them to overplay the worst possible outcomes, rationally or irrationally, sometimes even automatically without realizing or knowing, and thus be rendered useless bags of frightened meat in the proximity of a height-related situation.

>Tl;dr:
Brains work that way, and every brain is different.
