If he was costing the hospital too much, they should have let the parents take him home within the 60hrs they took him off life support and stopped giving him water\food.

This was what it was towards the end.

I mean why wouldn't they let the partent's take him home when he was off the machine? It's not like they could be worried about him dying or anything.
>>
>>767311468
They were just worried if the hospital in Rome made him better they would look really bad.
>>
>>767309868
"his brain is so compromised that he likely cannot see, hear, or communicate. He is probably unaware of his surroundings. They describe him as being in a "semivegetative" state. "

Jesus Christ what a nightmare. With no hope of recovery the state did the right thing and put the poor kid out of his misery.
>>
>>767311321
In UK parents do not have property rights on their children, they have a responsibility.
>>
>>767311321
In the uk kids have rights over their bodies over the parent rights. As the kid couldn't express his wishes the court of protection acts in his interest. So your right parents have little to no rights when it conflicts with the kids rights a d what's best for the kid
>>
>>767311468
They were arranging it but it takes time to make sure carers and stuff are set up. Remember the kid hadn't been home for 18mobths

>and what's best for the kid

So not letting them take him home after the plug was pulled was somehow in the kids favour?
>>

So? Kid was going home to die. Dying is something people generally don't need assistance with.
>>
>>767311911
Like I said the hospital was trying to sort it out but takes about 5 days to arrange stuff like that in uk... and the kid hadn't left a hospital for 18 months so the parents would have needed to sort stuff out their end... not something that can be done over nighy
>>
>>767312093
Theres nothing to set up. They took all his tubes out then waited for him to die.
>>
>>767311997

>>

Is it what you do in America? Yes, because anyway you would not be able to afford keeping a child with the same condition for such a long time.
You would have to convince your health insurance to pay for it, but since this is not fully covered you would still have to pony up thousands of your Monopoly®© money by yourself each month. Waiting for a miracle that will never come.
Until broke and exhausted, you decide to pull the plug, finding justification in whatever trashy religion your mind is fucked-up with.
This is your promise, this is what you want, feeling yourself truly a saint among the sinners, shouting to the world "Look at me! I did not succumb to the socialized medicine, I am free!" Back in your dehumanized comfort zone you will be able to proudly contemplate your victory, poor and alone.

Other doctors insist they could help but the government doctors can't be proved wrong. That would prove the government wrong. We can't show disrespect to the all powerful government.

I'm not American.

And none of that changes the fact that the hospital, after turning off the machine, didn't let the parent's take him home. Once the machine was off death is just a matter of short time. Dying at home would have offered some consolation to the parents. Either Alfie would be oblivious to it either way or they lied about how little brain he had left. I'm assuming the hospital didn't lie.

These cretins are the lowest form of scum. When their child died the dad did 15 mins CPR to try and revive him. If that doesn't indicate a truly unfit parent I don't know what does. My favourite thing on the internet is Americans pointing out why socialised medicine is bad. I appreciate you have been properly lied to about it, but it really isn't something bad. Have you never wondered why every country that has it is proud of their system?
You should vote for universal healthcare when you can and enjoy it. It's not perfect, but it's pretty good overall
>>
>>767315490
>They had no money to help it and had no equipment to make sure the child wasn't further hurt while transporting home.

The kid couldn't feel anything. He was brain dead. No brain activity. They couldn't have hurt him if they tried because there is nothing left to hurt with. No additional harm would have come to the child if he had been allowed to die at home but the parents might have got some closure.

most of his brain was gone and his retarded parents wanted to keep his empty husk alive with machines.

Scientifically illiterate Right wing morons try to use this as ammo against socialized medicine.

You really can't get dumber than those religious right morons. They're trying to say socialized medicine is bad, yet the USA with it's privet health insurance has the highest infant mortality rate of any developed nation.

I don't get why the US is so intent on derailing the benefits of the NHS whenever something like this crops up. Imagine being left with a dead kid AND be in debt to the tune of 200k because you couldn't come to terms with letting go of your child, due to an illness that completely degenerated their brain to the point of being jelly.

Genuinely cannot understand how media in the US can discuss how the NHS is shit when they kept the kid alive for free, and did it whilst the parents dragged the hospital through the mud.

The US is very "pro-life" in regards to something living - the US fails to consider what quality of life that person will have afterwards. It's fucking bizarre.

Ok Americans listen up. The UK government does not run our hospital they only pay for them. Each hospital is run by a local trust that is answerable to the local community. They also explain to an organisation called nhs England. The government has no direct input in to the care of people just overall performance. Everything else is ran by the Drs who know what they are doing.

The courts are there to ensure the law is upheld.

Show some respect, we respect your obsession over a colour bit of cloth you pledge allegiance to allow us to enjoy our superior and cheaper health care system

How can't you see it? You say the kid was a sack of meat that had been shitting through a tube for 18 months yourself. Surely the correct response to that indignity was to allow him to die peacefully. Maybe when your next relative becomes deathly sick you should drag them to Disneyland or perhaps a NASCAR race. I'm sure they enjoy being shunted about the place instead of drifting away in a comfortable bed.

Except that's not what they were asking. They were asking in the end, after the machine was taken off, to take him home so that he could die at home. To them he could still feel (we know he can't but that not relevant to their perspective) and it's better to die surrounded by loved ones than in a sterile, clinical and loveless hospital. They could have maybe gotten some closure and comfort from that. Maybe they could have told themselves he went happily in the end and lived with the loss a little better. But the hospital took that from them.

>How can't you see it?

incredibly vague and inflammatory remark; no sources, wouldn't even pass as anecdotal. Unlike 643,000 annual bankruptcies annually for healthcare in the US for example.

I suppose your country has never had a health 'scandal' which by the way this scenario is not.

I'm not unsure where the grey area even is. The kid was brain dead and the remnants of his brain was eating itself. Bambino Gesu hospital offered palliative care but withdrew it because of the child's fragile health.

After life support, the child survived for several days as stated by the doctor, this proves nothing other than his unresponsive brain and body following all medical protocol.

That's a straw man argument and I think you're going off on a tangent to avoid the obvious conclusion. Have a good evening.

A toddler got brain-dead in the UK and the parents wanted to keep it tube-fed and ventilated, but the socialized medicine said "nah, we're going to pull the plug" and so the parents took it to court and the judges said "nah, we're going to pull the plug." So they went on socialism media and begged people to take care of their potato, and people all over the world said "come here and we'll try experimental treatment to make him unbrain-dead" and when they tried to leave with their brain-dead kid, the government of the UK would not let them. Can't transport raw meat without a license or something.

So eventually the cops had to be called to keep anyone from coming to abscond with the potato, and then every waited with baited breath while it starved to death, over a two day period.

Wah wah, my potato goin' modly!

I am from the city mentioned and there have been hospital workers targeted and threatened who have nothing to do with the boy in intensive care.

I would suggest everybody read the full story but hears the short version.

A boy was in intensive care as he had a degenerative brain disease that is classed as terminal. The parents of The child fought to keep his life support on in the hopes he will recover, the nhs doctors determined it cruel he be kept on life support so decided to remove it. The parents objected and went to the european court of human rights who then sided with the doctors.

The pope got involved, other countries got involved to try and move him into there care (while also confirming the original diagnosis) the parents have argued the child wasn't given adequate palative care (to make the child more comfortable) and that other countries might (although they may charge a fee and the UK government may gave to pay again) the parents then rallied every bleeding heart they can and just like antifa these people do bad things (then pat themselves on the back and say they did good) they have threatened parents of other children and medical staff not even involved.

Last week someone who works at the hospital was riding public transport and had there name tag on, someone found them on Facebook, passed there info around and they received death threats.

The people doing this are mostly unemployed and the dregs of society

>See how a tyrannical top-down government run healthcare system discards innocents.
Do you know how many people the UK health care system saves?
I dare say the NHS saves a whole lot more people per capita than an american-esque private system.

No, he was born with a disease that was eating away at his brain, there was little to nothing that the british establishment could do to save it.

Brain deaddoesn't mean "can be healed with mommies kisses, mate, it means only being able to do the most basic of functions, breathing, digesting food and pumping blood.
