yeah that's why I like it. I can understand this sentiment.
but yeah it reminds me of HL2, 1984, and that other fucking book/movie. I can't remember the name but essentially it's a dystopian-type would where there's almost no crime, a single robotic police officer in the city, and everyone sits at home and watches TV.

later on the protagonist takes hostage of a TV station or some shit. fuck I need to find it now.

I know people hate on TED talks a lot because "hurr durr think for yourself" but this one talks about brutalism in architecture and why so many buildings were built this way despite public opinion because of a lack of feedback.

I've been to Serbia a few times, they have some proper brutalist architecture there:
https://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&q=serbia+brutalism
I dunno, I'm not so into it, would definitely not want to live in that type of setting, but I can appreciate it in sci-fi or dystopian movies.

>poorly lit apartments that house hermits who shun daylight

Hermit that shuns daylight reporting in.

You'd be surprised to know that we don't actually notice how dismal our surroundings are (usually) because we're focused almost entirely on whatever bullshit is going on in our heads or on the computer or something.

Honestly when I walk into a nice place with lots of decoration is just seems like a bunch of extra tack to me. Like those restaurants where they nail all of their grandpa's old garage junk to the walls and everyone goes "oooooo" and I'm just sitting there wondering what's so special about all the junk.

Plus, scary looking places keep normies away.

>>767277140
People hate on TED talks because they'll literally let anyone present. You can think that's a good thing all you like, but the sad reality is that they present themselves as knowledgeable professionals in their fields, and when you do that to a general public that can't always tell the difference, then you have huge societal misconceptions floating around.

My favorite TED talk was when they did the aquatic ape hypothesis. It was my favorite because I knew I didn't need to take TED talks seriously anymore afterwards.

I definitely agree with you, there are very few that are worth listening to and I can't stand the people who form their opinions based off talks they've heard.

I actually worked on a TEDx once and while I was there for 16 hours and there was only 1 presenter who was interesting or worth listening to and he was a children's entertainer teaching people sign language (Andy Dexterity - TEDx Sydney).

I usually only watch the ones with musicians, DJ's and beatboxers because of that.

Ha, I had to fly to Bham UK for work for a couple of days some 7-8 years ago, I spent the last afternoon around the cockring or whatever it was called and walked around town there a bit.
I remember seeing that thing, but what I remember most about it is that there was a small gothic church right there on the cement plaza outside of that inverted pyramid.
The church looked absolutely ancient and was sort of dug in by around 1m beneath the plaza cement surface.
I thought "who the hell would do this?!!"
