If you've ever played an N64 game called Quest64, it's similar to that. The combat is in real time and you chain attacks together for different results. There are elemental attributes that come into play too. You normally have a party and you can either play by yourself with computer-controlled party members or have up to 3 other people playing with you, which is what I recommend. And it's local which is the best part. Couch co-op is mostly dead.

Megaman X is definitely the one I've played the most and beaten the most, but I used to beat 5 and 6 for NES as a kid too.
I just way prefer the X series because of the dash mechanic, it makes the game much quicker. The characters were way cooler too, fucking zero was a STUD. I get through X in four-ish hours, but I think speedrunners have it down well under an hour, which is just mind blowing to me.

The scenario was written on toilet paper, the character development can't happen as the characters are abyssal void in the inside.
And the gameplay is so repetitive. The dungeons are LITERALLY corridors. The first SWITCH, that opens a door, is 12 hours in. Before that it's corridors.

The game doesn't treat you like a pussy. The combat is challenging, but fun. The story is simultaneously brutal, beautiful, intricate, yet understandable. Solid side mission content. The world is big enough to have plenty of room to explore but it's not so big where you're just walking around trying to find anything to do. I haven't played a ton of games on the PS4, but it's contending for my favorite of this generation (the alternate being The Last of Us). I'd really recommend it, especially if you can get it on sale.

felt floaty and cartoony, lore felt tacked on and art direction wasn't as immersive or meaningful, lack of variety in boss types, bosses/rooms made difficult through mob count as opposed to made interesting. Direction made the game feel like it was meant to be difficult as opposed to interesting, so they let a lot of things slide. That said, PVP was incredible and fun, and with the introduction of SotFS, the game is still very enjoyable

well firstly the world itself, DS1 had an interconnecting world where you could find shortcuts that led back to an earlier area, it was one of the coolest things in the entire game. Secondly, the bosses. The bosses in DS2 are nowhere near as good as the one in DS1, That giant fucking rat is clearly a ripoff of the great grey wolf sif. and the gargoyles fight is literally copied and pasted into from DS1 to DS 2. the bosses that aren't ripoffs aren't that good either, often being easy to dodge and not being very aggressive. I also didn't feel any connection to the bosses. what I mean by that is, when I fought Artorias in DS1, I really felt like I was fighting another living being that had history. Did I feel that way when I was fighting the rotten in DS2? Fuck no. I could go on but I think I've already made my point clear. Is Dark Souls 2 bad? no, it's actually very good, great even. it just doesn't reach that same level of amazingness that DS1 achieved
