In all honesty, and anyone who has never played it might disagree, but cheat.
Enable cheats and give yourself a fuck ton of money, build an army instantly and get involved in the high-end game.
If you want to own a castle, pledge yourself to a kind, and then siege a castle, do the knockout cheay (CTRL+X? it's been so long) and just win the battle. Then you own a castle, a big army, you're pledged to a kind and you can get involved in the wars.
Even doing it like this, you're talking 10+ hours of game.
Do what you want to with the game. If you wanna become a king through cheating, just do it. It'll take a long time.
Then when you know the game 100%, know how to play the big game, you'll want to start again and play properly.
And by then you'll have 80 hours of game time minimum, and had fun doing it.
