It was really jarring. Made me cringe.
It legit felt like fan fiction half the time. I didn't really care what it added to the overall world / story that much to me the episode was just overall really poorly written.
For a show that has such believable and genuine characters / moments in such an unbelievable world it was really fucking silly.

I quite liked it but season 2 seemed to lose its steam at some point, like they didn't have a great plan for it and tried too hard to set it up for another season. And goddam, that abrupt ending didn't even feel like the end of a season.

This show really pissed me off. It’s almost as if it was pretending to be really impactful. Lots of things happened that we’re setups for drama that never came to fruition. Pete Campbell used to be somewhat sadistic, then he just became slightly an asshole. Peggy slept with Pete and had a baby out of wedlock, a great setup but she never had to deal with that decision and neither does Pete. Through the whole series don makes the exact same mistakes over and over again and never changes. The problem is that it tricks you, makes you believe something interesting will happen, but you are treated to more scenes of useless drinking smoking and talking.

Too slow. Yeah, I know, "slow burn" and shit. I get that but this is way too slow even for that. 60% done and he's barely changed as a character. It'll take 15 seasons at this rate unless they pull some magical transformation at the end in which case they invalidate the premise of him becoming Saul. And don't say it's showing him slip into more shady shit because they also established that he's been shady forever.
Bob Odenkirk does a great job with the character, don't get me wrong. And the Mike episodes are gold. The pacing is the problem.

Season 2 finale is one of the best hours of television ever made. Even if you didn't like Season 3, Hannibal at it's worst is better than 99% of shows at their best. Now that Bryan Fuller has quit American Gods and Star Trek Not As Good As The Orville Discovery maybe Hannibal will get its revival. I'd kill for a 4th season.

Kim, his brother, all those that should have had moderate screen time at best seem to be getting to tell their life stories as well.
