Touch pad: Toggle it and your intuos becomes a laptop touch pad, multi-gestures pressure sensitivity, stuff like that. (I have it turned off)

Pen is light no batteries required for it.

I know as much as there's an extra button that both merges the layer and makes a new one at the same time, but I usually ignore it.
You can also make a layer multiply the colors (makes things darker, think 0.4 x 0.8 on RGB scale)
Layers also have their own paper textures and some effects coded into SAI like watercolor fringe.

A lot of times this is used to "paint backwards"
It's subtle, but the left side of this used a layer underneath the purple layer.
The right side paints shading right on top of the purple lines.
Sometimes you'd want this, but most people just use layers to make their linework clean and easy to do.
