I use C# .NET with Visual Studio on W10

I make small windows applications for myself mostly. I created my own music player, my own secure, unbreakable encryption/decryption algorithm, my own chat spammer, and a couple other applications for myself

Anyone here wanna try to break my algorithm?

Replying to myself here just cause I'm feeling cocky today. I've encrypted a sentence with ten words in it using my unique algorithm which nobody on Earth has a copy of.

Anybody here good enough to figure out what it says?

Depends on the project and situation.

At work mostly .net (c# or vb depending on what the customer wants).
C/c++ for anything multi platform or performance critical

Rarely php these days, most customers want aspx.
C or Assembler for microcontrollers

Can work with most languages. But python and lua makes me cringe.

Base64 encoding is not even the same type of concept as MD5 retard. MD5 is a hashing algorithm. Hashing algorithms can't be reversed. MD5 is considered weak because it's chances of collisions are high (two different inputs resulting in the same output). Base64 encoding is meant to be reversible, it's no different than converting to binary (base2) and back.

Serious question IT-Bros
This has been bugging me for a while, but I guess this is a good a place to ask as any.

I got my business degree 6 months ago, but I realized that I like building and coding better (ive been learning myself Python for the past 3 months).
I'm pretty sure that I want to do this profesionally in the future so I'm wondering: Is it possible to make a career as a programmer/future CTO without a CS degree?

I'm a Dutchfag, which is one of the IT hubs of western europe, so we're drowning in dev jobs (mainly Java, C+, and Python/Bi/DS)

For real though, yes you have a chance. Your degree doesn't really matter, what matters is what you do. If you get a job as a programmer and work your way up, you'll be fine. Your business degree might be a bonus when you get to higher levels of mgmt.
>>
>>752140570
If you want to do IT you can do that with a business degree and some self-teaching.

If you want to be a software engineer, you should probably go back to school.

>>752140570
Of course it is. I've seen so many people do it self-taught; I would even go so far as to guess that about half the IT workers are self-taught. The real question is: Do people with a CS degree have it easier to get a decent job, does it open them any doors that are closed for normal programmers?

If your shitty ass tool wont hold up to peer review then it is fucking useless. Stop being a faggot and post source code. It's probably nothing special anyways.
>>
>>752143359
hello agent, sorry you can't figure out my encryption without the source code. it must be "nothing special" if literally zero people here can figure it out lmao

Most shit you can do with just high school education.
But I hate kids without solid preparation in CS doing this job as they lack in structure and understanding of what's really important: architecture and clean code.
If you want to do websites or mobile apps, just go for it, but remember code is just the step where you tell the computer what to do, most of the job should be architecture, choice of technologies etc.
In fact discussions about best/worst languages feel kinda pointless to me as you just write something in the most fit language for what you need in each specific project. Languages are just a bunch of grammars and syntactic rules you need to remember (or you could just look up), but understanding the needs of a project and knowing what kind of language best suits it are the real skills

I'm very submerged in C# and C++, i'm also familiar with VB and SQL. Could i be able to find a decent job with these? What other languages should i be getting into? I do not have a degree in anything.

No one has cracked it yet because nobody here fucking cares. The NSA has probably already broken it though. Post the source code for your media player if you want attention. I bet it's total shit too.

Elegance is awesome I too prefer readable elegant code to short efficient code... I mean most of the times unless you have very limited resources... See it's all about context.

Anyone can make an impossible encryption, ya dingus. Doesn't mean you're some sort of encrypting master.
>>
>>752137052
>>752138881
Hey dumbass, guess what: no one here can crack your cypher for the only reason no one has the algorithm. As the guy who you replied to said, if the strength of your encryption is that the algorithm is secret, then it's not reliable.
Can you explain further why MD5 and base64 are not safe anymore? Because the algorithm is public and a few collisions were found? Great new Sherlock, every hashing algorithm has collisions. RSA was designed over 30 years ago, the underlying algorithm has been out in the open the whole time, and yet, you cannot break RSA-encrypted / MD5-hashed messages.
