My ceiling is pretty high. My trans is holding me back. It's built but only to about 550-600hp to the crank; and I'm knocking on that door now. If I bite the bullet and shell out the money to swap in a built th400, then I could push it more. My engine is built to handle 800hp or so. But then I would need to get actual drag wheels. Right now I just roll with stock 245 drag radials. I'd need to bump up to a 275 with that power.

The apex seals weren't even worn enough to justify replacing, but I did eliminate a really annoying oil leak and replaced all the stock gaskets with better materials and the corner springs with the FD ones.

Buying an entirely new engine is a waste. Several shops still sell all of the parts you need to rebuild a rotary engine, and you can find rotors and housings on forums or ebay easily enough. I think they still manufacture rotors and housings for the newer 13B engines, but the original castings for the older 12A are apparently all gone, so used parts are the only option. My first time doing a rebuild cost me somewhere between $1k-2k and took a little over a month, but note that this is the first time I ever pulled an engine entirely apart, much less a rotary, and I was working with an extremely limited set of tools. For comparison I think most tuner shops that sell assembled engines put them up for upwards of $5k.
