The blue lodge (Degree 1 to 3) is really just giving you rules and teaching you, in general through allegory, how not to be a shitty human.
The Scottish Rite (degree 4-33) does the same thing, but through a lot of moral plays (some of which are beautiful and insightful as fuck.
None of this information or knowledge is exclusive or a trade secret, you learn this by being a reasonably introspective person.

A friend of mine is a Mason, and I was recently talking with him about the society. It's a myth that you need to be invited. In fact, you will NEVER be invited. It is quite against the rules to "invite" somebody to join. The Masons can make their presence known in your community, but they won't try recruiting members. If you ever want to join you simply need to call/e-mail/ or visit your local lodge and ask to join. They will at that point give you information on how to join and if you are still interested you will have to take part in an initiation ritual and pay your dues. I believe there is a voting process, but as long as you aren't an infamous piece of shit in your local area, you will be accepted into their club.
